Humming?!? and vibration in front end--Wheel bearings?

I've got a low pitched hum that seems to be coming from the front end. The faster I go the louder and higher pitched it becomes although it is never "high pitched". At around 40-45 mph I also start getting vibration that can be felt in the steering column and on the floor with your feet. The vibration does increase as speed increases.

Could this be wheel bearings? I've already had new tires mounted and the wheels balanced

Sounds likely. Jack one side up and tug on the wheel left to right. If it has slop it is loose or wore.

Yup, it was the wheel bearings, had them changed out today and no more problems
