Here I am sweating out another hurricane. Though I've seen no mention of it here. Do you guys realize that a direct strike to New Orleans will be the worst disaster and costliest in our history? Fema and the Red Cross have predicted 50k deaths if New Orleans fills with water. It may also miss them still and head towards me. Which is likely because i'm a magnet. :frown:

James,

Repeat this Mantra (I have all night!)

Go west Katrina, Go west Katrina, Go west Katrina, Go west Katrina, Go west Katrina, Go west Katrina, Go west Katrina, Go west Katrina, Go west Katrina, Go west Katrina, Go west Katrina, Go west Katrina, Go west Katrina, Go west Katrina, Go west Katrina, Go west Katrina, Go west Katrina.

I think I've pushed it as far west as I can. Time to

RUN!!

Richard I said a prayer for all of you last night. Gawd, I hope I don't get it, but it may surge enough here to flood me despite being so many miles away.

This is a three headed monster folks. We're talking a Humanitarin, Environmental, and economic disaster for the US. If you do not believe me please watch that video I posted on the plural site. LOTS of GASOLINE gets refined there, stored, and shipped. That's not to even mention the refiniery and oil rig damage. New Orleans will be gone tomorrow. This storm will effect everyone in this country one way or another.

In all seriousness...if you live in that area....take care and be safe. This one looks like it is developing into a Monster. Cat 5 as of this morning.

Good Luck.

I don't think I've ever read a NOAA warning this bad.

Be safe to everyone,Even being a little category 1 it did some serious damage down in south florida,I imagine how bad it will be now that its a 5.

Looks like N.O. got lucky considering how bad it could have been. Area's just east of New Orleans got hit pretty bad. Haven't seen any brocasts from the area between N.O. and Biloxi yet.

NO looked like it was spared the worst, but it just flooded more slowly. 100% of the city will be flooded by tomorrow. Biloxi, Gulfport, ect... are gone. It flooded as far East as Pensacola and Navarre. :(

Like I said earlier, this IS the worst natural disaster in our history on so many levels.

At the time I wrote my last message, it looked as if N.O. had been spared the worst, but now it looks pretty bad. I was here for andrew and got hit a couple of times last year, but I still can't imagine what all these people are going through. Katrina did quite a bit of damage down here, but nothing like what they got. Did you get anything Bishir?

Turns out water came up 8 feet in my neighborhood and I was ok. This is just a unreal situaiton.

I have family in Gautier, Biloxi, D'iberville, and Oceansprings. Haven't heard a word yet. I saw my old neighborhood in ruins on the news. I saw a shot near my grandmother's house and there's nothing left. I'm flying out as soon as it's possible.

Where are you having to fly into? Most of the airports are closed, but I hear Pensacola may be reopening. My car club is trying to organize a blood drive to help.

Looking for a generator to rent/buy/borrow...

I'm in NW Mississippi, but heading back to the Coast tomorrow.

Looking for a generator. Let me know if you know of one.

Cool84, Jackson County is in ruins. My family's already back there and it is bad!!

Richard, I'm going to have my wife look for you over here today. I assume Mississppi is sold out considering I heard 80% of the state was out of power. FEMA will reinburse you for the cost of one and a chainsaw. They did with Ivan and Dennis.

FEMA will reimburse for a generator?? I thought it was a loan you have to pay back unless you are a small business. I might be wrong, thats what I read on their website when Charley got me last year. If they dont reimburse you on anything just remember to document anything you buy disaster related. At least if you can itemize your takes you can deduct the sales tax and some of the cost on your tax return. Also look into property depreciation. I let the insurance co dick me around for 6 months(or was it the other way around?) so I could take a deduction on that. I'm a late filer so I have yet to see if this is going to fly.

In both Dennis and Ivan Fema would reimburse you for a generator and chainsaw.. No loan... I'm giving you first hand information.

I found a generator in Canton that I can pick up on the way home. Thanks for all the help guys. I'll be out of touch after tomorrow for an extended period.

Do you have any other info, Ocean Springs specifically? I still haven't heard anything from anyone. I can't believe what I'm seeing on the news, I was just in the Grand Casino having the time of my life and now it's ruined.

Ok, my friend just got back from picking up family members in Biloxi. He said he had no problems driving there from Pensacola. He said it looks like Grand Lagoon on a massive scale. Grand Lagoon was a neighborhood in Pensacola after Ivan that was just foundations. He said it doesn't look like that bad of wind damage compared to Ivan, but the water damage is incredible. There is nothing left south of the railroad tracks and it flooded up to 3 miles inland in some places.
