I'm trying to get a complete list compiled of what exactly I need to convert to a hydraulic roller camshaft setup from a hydraulic flat tappet.
-Hydraulic Roller Camshaft
-Hydraulic Roller lifters
-Correct pressure Valve springs to replace flat tappet springs

Are special length pushrods required? How about some sort of lifter retainer plate?

If you going with a ductile roller you will need a timing set and a roller cam button. Along with the parts you already mentioned. Mine has 351 Windsor push rods. The retainer plate is part of the lifters when you buy them. Your best bet would be to call somebody and buy it as a kit. Mike Licht, Bill Anderson, or Dan Stenzo all can hook you up with everything that you need.

If you go with a billet you will need more parts.

When I did my Comp Cams roller, I needed the following parts.

Camshaft
Retro-fit roller lifters
springs
retainers
valve locks
push rods
