Hypothetical Twin Turbo set-up???

This idea is for my extra 71 Riviera that I want to start the custom mods on this year. Even with the 455 in place, there's still literally a couple extra feet in the engine bay. Am consideringTwin Engines for WOW factor and needing input on how to work it.

Basic Idea: longitudinal 4.1+4.1, blocks and cranks connected inline.

Details subject to change:

Remote water pumps, dry sump oiling
Am thinking one large fuel pump
Motors mated 180deg off so exh. pipes from one side feed from both engines to a turbo for one engine.
Single computer controls split to two engines.

Doesn't sound too difficult? What am I missing? What snags occur to you?

i wouldnt know what to think if you put two turbo buick v6s in the front of a boat tail. it wouldnt even have to be fast, it would just be badass. how would you connect the cranks?

GM used to link the old industrial 305v6 together to make a v12. You might want to see what they did to make it work. Most people don't know about the old girl but they came in rediculus CU for crawlers and trucks.

If you have the money anything is possible. To connect the cranks I would use JB weld. You would have to get the engines balanced as a complete assembly, or the thing might shake itself to death.

Connections

My idea is to connect them with a turned O/I adapter. Bolted to rear of shaft #1 and splined(like an axle) to connect w/shaft #2. Balance each crank and the adapter individually then rebalance the assembly to the lighter individual crank.

The base of connecting the blocks would be a shared water-jet cut girdle/cradle/elephant ear style mounting of the blocks, slid in from the top.

Badass over the top is the idea!!! Wouldn't need excessive power from either motor. Especially since my design drawings currently show a targa top! But I'm thinking to remake the whole front clip in glass after customizing for better weight bias of this boat just the same.

this is hard to explain.... but its a method I have seen alot of twin engine dragsters use...

imagine a double roller timing chain..... with a set of teeth on one side and a set of teeth on the other side.... now split the gear in half between the teeth....

they have half a sprocket on the crank snout of one engine and the other half on the flywheel side of the other engine.

using the chain, they wrap it around the two sprockets thus connecting then together. This was used because it offered a nice controlled torque link.

Thanks, I've seen those too. The chain drive availability was a temptation but I worry about the streetability and overall longevity of it. Correct me if I'm wrong but my thoughts on splining shaft #2 and connecting with essensially a slip yolk would guarantee two engines running off a single ecm to remain in sync while allowing each their individual thrust moments. I'm actually as concerned about the combo's varying throttle manners as their ability to pull WOT passes alone.

It's what I haven't thought of yet that worries me tho! What am I missing? Would seperate fuel pumps be smarter? It can't be this easy...I'm not THAT smart!lol
