Well it all starts out at 6:30 last night ,I am on call for my company,so the dispatcher calls and tells me to go downtown to the GoldCoast (rich area) cause there is a water pouring into the condos below the 4w condo,So I get there and I ring the bell of 2W who called us,he takes me up to 4w with the contractor and 2 of his guys (5 of us now) we correct the problem and 2w wants to show me 3w's damage from the water,,we get there and myself and the head construction guy go in and look at the damage, his guys are in the hall waiting (door is open for condo, since the condo owner left a box proping it open),Long story--sorry,,So we look at the damage and leave,I never seen him touch anything, but dont know where his guys were..The women claims to have takin it off with other jewery(watch, braclet) so that they can clean up the water and ring out towels...
So they call me lastnight to tell me about it being stolen and that it could only be 1 of 4 people-( i am one of those)..this morning I get a call and the owner tells me that whoever stole the ring has till 11am to place it under the floor mat,,this made my heart drop since I felt accused..he also told me that the ring($30,000) was laser etched with serial numbers in the diamonds,,which I felt he was hinting to me that if I stole it I could not pawn it ...

This is really troubling to me,I has made me feel guilty of doing my job, since he is insinuating that I may have takin the ring...Just venting I guess ...

If at 11am nobody returns the ring then what happens? if you dont mind me asking.

I think he said somthing to the fact that the Detectives will be all over this since it will be an easy case,,I was sleeping when he called, but I think thats what he said..I am on Vacation this week ,but on call llastnight ,one of the guys said he would take my calls ,,should have listned to him..:(
Hey thanks for asking ,I know its a strange situation...

hey no prob but thats bull you know , i mean if you know you didn't take it but ppl think you took it and there is really no way of proving it than you shouldn't worry about it. was the lady old maybe she forgot where she put it?

SHe may have been 40-45 yrs old,,Apparently she put it on a table with her other jewelery while she was cleaning up the water..
I hope they find it somewhere in a towel(had a large pile of soaking wet towels)
I dont know where this Table is located in relation to the front door, but the other guys were in the hall waiting:(

That's good. Leave it UNDER A DOOR MAT!! $30,000 and you're going to 'leave it under a door mat!" Everybody and their mother would be watching that door mat. I could see it now.. the person who took it decides to put it under the door mat, somebody else comes along and takes it. :)

Man.. don't worry about these accusations. They're BS. That ring has probably been missing for weeks/months/years now.

But thanks for the laugh.

Just an idea though. Make sure it ISN'T anywhere like a toolbox or pockets that belong to you. If somebody put it in your pockets or somewhere to 'set you up' that could really be bad.

Let us know how it turns out.

My truck was locked and I didnt bring any tools in besides a flashlight..but stranger things could happen

What the heck is your JOB?? Plumber, Policeman? Security? Landlord?

Don't sweat it they cannot charge all four people.

Anyhow there is a clause under condo rules that allows entrance by management if an emergency exists. She should take it up with condo insurance if someone is not charged.

Yeah right put a 30k ring under a mat. Then step on it LOL :)

I'm not worried at all,it just bothers me to think that there are poeple out there that are thinking I may have taken it,,just a crummy feeling---I know get over it ...

Sounds like some one is trying to run a scam. I would NOT talk to this person again. If they do get the police involved insist on a lawer. People will often try to sue your business liabilty insurance company. If they try to talk to you call your insurance co. right away. My father had a similar thing happen to him many years ago.

Ask him if the ring also had a beeper-locator so they could figure out where they actually left it so they wouldn't falsely accuse people of stealing it....

yeah, people are imperfect - it's probably buried under the towels or somewhere else, they might even have found it already, but please don't hold your breath waiting for an apology. Yeah, watch out for a scam. Sorry for the troubles!

Some of our Paramedics have been accused of that before. Get someone unconcious in the back of an ambulance after a car wreck. A ring is missing and the family accuses us of it. We just deny it and let the attorneys handle it.

All you can say is you didn't take it, and assume everything will come out right. It's hell when you go to help someone and they accuse you of stealing. Hang in there, it will work itself out.

Anyone who has the money to drop 30 large on a ring had better have the friggin' brains to schedule it on their contents coverage of condo insurance. I think this would have been an avenue that they would have pursued immediately if their accusations had been on the up and up. Something is incredibly fishy about the whole thing, I'm not gonna jump to using the word 'scam', but something just doesn't add up. If you are contacted (read: half-a$$ed accused) again, I would tell them that 'Kiss it' is laser etched on your a$$....if they've got anything solid on anyone, they'll make their move.

Yeah, I kinda agree. If you know an attorney it probably wouldn't hurt to contact him and tell him what's going on. If they hassle you any more, just tell them to contact your attorney, you don't want to talk to them about it.

Sounds like they misplaced it , are scamers or someone else took it . If you do need to pawn it i have a buddy here in N.Y that works in Jewlery im sure we can get those #s off ;)

"Could you please put my uninsured 30k ring under the doormat please? The one I leave laying around, thanks!"

I would say they are just looking to start some trouble.

Did any of the accusers slip on the water and hurt their neck or back?

There are scummy people out there, I am not sure how old you are so either will or have seen this stuff before.

Jeez, I have my $9000 '99 Maxima insured!

don't sweat it bro.

Bill

Offer to take a polygraph! See where the other accusers stand.

I KNOW THE FEELING TOO

I was setup at a flea market back in 1982 North Reading Mass.

I was keeping the space live for my mothers friend
while she went away on vacation.

She paid me to sell her stuff & I brought along some stuff
to sell. THIS WAS PRE EBAY & SWAP MEET.

Anyway my mom's friend had a small case of
Costume jewlery at this booth.

the stuff she was selling as $5 to 25 basic junk glitz.

I kept getting a lady who stopped in every 15 mins
asking me about a certian ring & why it was only $20-.

She was driving me nuts. I had the feeling she did not want to buy it.. MY GUT WAS CORRECT.
So I placed the ring under the box liner out of sight just to keep her away.

She came back with police in tow. They booted me out & took me
to the station for questioning because this lady's house was robbed..

Come to find out the police in her town ( ANDOVER MA) told her to search all the local flea markets for her stolen items.
The ring was not even mine. I was a stand in. Anyway
me & the booth owner had to visit the PD to explain I had nothing to do with the ring.

But boy the questions they tossed at me that 1st round. Wanting to know if I knew the theives & if I would rat on them I would be cleared. Don't ya just love Police tactics

OH And to tell ya her stolen items were all paid for by insurance a year prior to all this. Yet the lady was hell bent on finding her stuff.
