I just picked up a decent used GN radiator for my father's turbo 6 powered Monte SS. The motor is fresh and I dont want to contaminate it. How can I properly flush out the engine oil cooler in the radiator to rid it of any hidden debris?

Cooler flush?

Lee, I recommend not even wasting your time,if you don't know the history of the rad... The coolers are well known to be a "crud trap" and have a core that makes it near impossible to guarantee it will clean up.
I always use an external when messing w/ a unknown...

A "pro" flush it?

NOPE!! They will tell you they "got it all" and then when the engine takes a crap.. they tell you to prove it was a dirty cooler. Other words.. take a hike!!

Only way to really flush it is to have a radiator shop remove it and replace it. I heard that there is a Caddy cooler that will work as a direct replacement but I do not have the part numbers.

Well, it looks like another car will have to go without a cooler for now.

Chuck, what brand / type of cooler are you using in your GN's? I need to add an external cooler and want to use what is a proven fit. Thanks
