I just gotta voice my opinion on the recent locked tech threads

while it is your board.............

majority of us only read, or have the posted facts, we aren't privy to private messages, so what would you expect from "only reading one side of the story?"
I support free enterprise, and unless its copyrighted, expect people to copy a good product!
I support Nick, and respect his knowledge and assisitance, and I support this board, its the 1st thing I check when I turn on the computer,

I dont have an opinion either way. My only dog in this fight is if you want to sell here on this board, you have to pay a vendor fee. That's it. Dude can sell headers, turbos, hookers, dancing hoolah girls, whatever as long as he pays the vendor fee.

Seeings as how he's run off to another forum and basically started taking orders, I feel even more justified in my actions now.

Another rant;

You guys get to uppity when a thread gets locked down. This board is pretty darned lax for a G-Rated board, IMO.

I just felt the "sellers" disingenuous reasons for "selling" the headers was just ridiculious, lol. I mean dang, I wasn't born yesterday. My guess is were going to see Ebay flooded with these things in the upcoming weeks and months, only time will tell.

Taking a poll, If you read it a little closer you'd see that. And the running off part, Im still here. Why don't you reply to your PM's? I sent one days ago without a response back.

Its obvious that you've been had in your life. What did you buy and get shafted on?
You want to see invoices? Wouldn't have mattered to me but, think as you may or do as you will or whatever.:rolleyes:

Why wasn't it simple? I'd like an explanation to that. Did it offend someone? Was there more to it? What?? In a day, the thread gets locked and I get snide remarks from JayC.

Nothing personal against you or your product, and if they are proven decent and I need headers down the line I would buy them, it was your shpeel that triggered my scorn. I have been down the block a time or two and can tell when someone is laying it on thick or not. ;)

I wasn't laying anything on anybody. I have in fact tried to protect other members from buying overpriced items from other members via PM when I saw that they would get REALLY shafted on. I would actually take the time to go research a product for someone and email them where they could get it cheaper. Ask anyone who knows me and they will tell you the same. I have gone out of my way for so many people. And this is the kind of treatment I get from the board?? Threads locked and harsh words tossed at me! I really hope that JayC posts all the PM's so you can see what I mean. Not just the ones from me either!!

I have no 'harsh' words for you. ;) I just thought your defense was weak and generic hogwash, that's all. Just fire away tactfully, that is always the best way.

There is 4 arguments going on:

-Patent's and lack there of (only so many variants you can do with our header set up; ATR type, Hooker type, TA/Poston type)

-Not paying vendors fee's (Not my concern)

-Locking threads (their board, their right, not my concern)

-My original rant (not my concern, but I commented anyways, woot)

When have I questioned this product before?? Are you talking about me? I dont recall ever questioning any other products for sale purposes. Check my posts if you must.
 
So now you would offer ones that need to be tweaked (possibly) for half the price you mentioned? I don't know what to make of you, I won;t lie, you're a bit of an enigma to me now. :redface:
 
How much do flanges cost?? Have you bought any lately? Then have them welded on?? Im not a welder and would take it to someone else. Add that up and tell me what you get.
 
Well all I want to know is how much it really cost to run and maintian an internet forum?
 
If you want to run some POS board on a shared server with 100 other forums, then ProBoards is for you!

When we took over TB, we moved the board to a dedicated server and essentially fixed everything that was broken with the board. To run a board like this takes AT MINIMUM one server with a LOT of horsepower. Some of the other boards I administrate require (yes, REQUIRE) 3 servers to be able to handle the load put on them by the users.

Truthfully, TB should probably be run on 2 servers as well because it's a fairly busy board but it simply costs too much to be able to do that. Bruce had this board running on a dual P2 400, which is why it was slow and why the search didnt work. The server simply couldnt handle the database load before it eventually timed out, which is why every once in a while it would work but most of the time it didnt.

I dont really think it's anyone business what it costs to run the forum but I can tell you that it cost us close to $2000 to move the server from one machine to another, have the skin completely redone and license the software we needed to get the board where we wanted it.

As far as the rest of this crap, Im not going to post PMs for several different reasons. I'm also not going to allow you to link to another forum trying to generate interest in your product and last but not least, Im not going to continue to have this conversation with you. You keep getting closer and closer to being banned every day and on any other forum I administrate, you would have already been banned. Things are laxer here and Im trying to keep that in perspective but im quickly running out of patience with you.

Far as this thread goes, I want to make it simple. If you advertise a product on this board you are required to be a vendor. CUT & DRY!

If that was not an advertisement for something for sale, today or later, I don't know what is. Nobody complains when we take the spam off for computers, ipods, dvd players etc...... It is the same thing in our eyes.

He was asked nicely in PM to become a vendor or quit pushing the issue. I will be sending him the rates. If he pays he can sale anything, that simple. There are MANY MANY vendors that are members here that don't pay vendor dues and DON"T ADVERTISE there products. Why should this be any different. Why is it fair for Gbody, Full Throttle, AZ GN, CK Performance, Kirbans, etc... to pay for advertising if we let competition post their products without paying. Without the vendors there would be no board. We have never asked members for donations so somebody has to pay the bills.

Everybody wants to know what it cost to run the forum etc... I will put it too you this way. It will probably take me 4-5yrs to re coop JUST WHAT I PUT INTO THIS ALREADY! I don't except that to be the members problems, but shouldn't we be able to re coop what we spent over a reasonable amount of time right??? I did not buy this board for the $$ part, I wouldn't have bought it if that was the case. We bought it to keep this passion alive that we all obviously share, the love of TR's! Unfortunately it cost money to keep a board of this size up and running, it has to come from somewhere!

Members, I hope to one day overcome every ones suspicions of sneaky under handed admin. We are here simply to give everyone a great board to use and be as fair to everyone as possible. Sadly we can please all the people all the time, just doing our best.......

This thread was not closed simply because it was a threat to another vendors product. It was closed because a non vendor was advertising after he was not asked too.

O, and far as keeping it fair to all. We will be asking mods to become more active in policing this very policy. There are many levels of advertising available, there again trying to be fair.

i would like to know what if any is the profit margin on 950 headers?...im just wondering is it a lot a little?...im thinking it cant be much if you figure in all fabrication, costs of materials, labour , development etc...just curious to know if people are making a killing on these or not much at all...thanks noah.
 
I side with the board on this one, they let it start and go for a while. Then when things moved beyond being just info etc you need to become a paying vendor.
