I just got my car fully back up & running so I wanted to send it to my local buick experts  But guess what they wont tune a car that has Alky !!!
This is the first of heard of something like this...

Maybe because they're nervous about tuning the car on alky, the tank running low, and the motor popping. Heard of that happening on more than one occasion. Can't say I blame them. They probably don't want to get blamed for something going wrong. I see you're kind of local to me. Who did you ask to tune it?

Lol you already know.. " Fairfield " I just got my car back running after poppin a HG. I had no tune, so I want it really dialed in this time.

Doesn't surprise me at all. Most of my friends said I was crazy when I first mentioned the kit from Razor. Not to mention every singe issue I have the Meth is the first thing they blame it on...

"Tuning" these cars isn't magic everyone should try to learn to do it themselves. Especially with the chips available these days.

Live and learn the scanmaster and your knock gauges, a safe tune is the easiest way to start. Dialing up is easier than changing gaskets and dialing down. ;)

Drivability issues are all laid out plain in the service manual another good tool most people overlook, it provides great detail on how these cars "should" run on the street.

Then a power logger or direct scan for fine tuning and advanced tuning if needed, if running a TT alky. chip and a progressive alky. kit, I doubt you will need more than a good boost gauge, FP gauge, KR gauge, and the scanmaster to get the car fast. :)

I have all of the above, but no power logger.... I guess I will just start low & then advance.

Erics chip if burned for your combo are very close to bang on out of the package. Start there first & write things down. Then try adding a lb of fuel & check again, Then 1 degree of timing or 1 lb boost etc. Go Slow & see what happens. Thats all tuning is . Time & patience.

This is the best advice you can give yourself.

The biggest issue is when the car has alky it allows two things to happen. One.. very easy to get greedy with the boost. Two.. you beat on the engine more often. Those two you need to keep in check, the higher the boost you run.. the higher chance for an incidental problem(alky or not).

If you keep your boost moderate, test your system periodically, keep your fuel tank full, watch your knock.. you'll live a very long time without issue.

Your scanmaster is the very first thing you need to really learn to use. Read, read, read as much as you can. Then pay attention to what the car/engine is telling you. These cars are way easy and with the correct chip, and settings.. you'll be fine.

On an LS1 V8 you need to flash the computer. On the Buick, with today's chip technology.. you really dont need to do anything. All tuning does is confirm things are working. As there is really no "tuning" unless the tuner can burn his own chips. Guess what.. unless Eric Marshall or Bob Bailey are in the passenger seat... no shop in the country has this capability.

There are some situations like translators that need tweaking.

Hope this helps. Hope I saved you a few hundred $$$.

With a good functioning alky kit you just need to employ some common sense. Watch the knock and the low alky light. Some people can't even figure that out, though.

That could not be said any better.

The stock ECM and TT chip are pretty much dummy proof. Unless you are experieneced with the FAST or know someone who can help you out, the stock ECM/Turbotweak chip is very easy.

x2 For the most part the TT chip is great right out of the box! also heed the advice above about learning the scanmaster and you'll be fine.

An EGT gauge is a good idea also, if you're running alky. It's easy to overdo the injection, and cool your exhaust gases too much. That ruins the efficiency of the turbo, and will slow you down.

I have a fast B2B system what do you guys think ? should I use this

I used an audible knock detector with my FAST. Works great.. just look at the datalogs.

Tuning the WOT on a FAST is a piece of cake. Just look at the O2 correction and adjust the VE accordingly. Target above 15 PSI is 11.0:1. The hard stuff is the drivability stuff. Like cold start, decel, idle, tip in, etc.
