you can get a deep sump 14 bolt pan from RJC. i got one on my car.

I have one. It is stock and still on the engine, so I imagine it will have the baffle no matter what. How is 50 shipped? They are big, so It will cost a few to get it to you.

why not hit the local junkyard and pick one off the first g body or b body with a 231 or 4.1 in it that's laying on it's side and pull it off of that?

After asking several people about that I have reached the conclusion that NONE of the normally aspirated 3.8 or 4.1 cars will have the oilpan with the baffle inside. The baffled oilpan was only used on the turbo motors to keep oil in the pan from splashing up on the crankshaft and rods which would create drag. I already purchased a 14 bolt powdercoated oilpan that looks really nice, but when it arrived I found out it did not have the baffle:mad: Would it work..probably..but considering I am planning on this motor running 10's I would rather get the right part and not take the chance..they are a PAIN to change out in the car.

If you or a buddy has a tig, it would be easy to weld in a piece of sheet metal for a baffle. It wouldn't have to even be exactly same shape and size as oem. As long as you have room for pickup and dipstick, will be just as effective. A piece of sheet metal snips would make it easy to cut to proper shape. just a thought

Yeah Im thinkin about that too.

i'm sure someone makes a bolt in windage tray for the Buick V6.
if not, then maybe someone needs to step up and offer one.

Bolt in would be a bad idea because that means thru vibration etc, it could come lose:eek: Welding one in would be fairly easy though.

You are correct. I've had many a NA motor apart and only the 82 and newer turbos have the baffle.

almost every other engine in the world has a bolt in windage tray available for it, so why would one not work in a Buick V6?

Im not saying it wouldnt work...I am saying that these motors vibrate and I could see it coming loose..I dont even want to consider what could happen if it were to come loose and start bouncing around against my crank and rods:eek: . Furthermore...I have not found a bolt in tray anywhere. I also dont want to drill holes in my oilpan because thats just one more spot where it could leak oil.
