well as i stated I ordered a gear from TCI...... I am needing the Driven gear or at least I thought it is called the driven gear maybe I am wrong so please help me out. My speedo was erratic then stopped working I detached it from the trans and spun it up with a drill, it works in the cluster just fine. So I think it has to be the Drive gear(the large orange one on the Governor) or it is the driven gear (the one that sits on the speedo bullet adapter) I have an extra drive gear on a new govenor so I just need a new driven gear.

I got on TCI's site to this page
TCI - COMPONENTS: Speedometer Gears
I saw the part number 880036

I also called them and gave them my application to verify getting the correct part. Well just got home and got the part....it's wrong....it looks like the gear on the page ......has a long shaft and a small gear.

I dont know if I am calling this thing the wrong gear or what....

please help

You have the Terminology correct.
The gear on the Gov is the Drive gear and gear in the Speedo bullet is the Driven gear.
What exactly is wrong with the Gear you received? Gear shape, size, # of teeth incorrect?
Stock gears for GN would be 11-tooth Drive/29-tooth Driven, assuming you have a 26" Tire & 3.42 Gear.

the problem is size and shape......the gear they sent me looks like the gears shown on the oage of the link to TCI I posted....basically the gear is too small and it has a 2" shaft on it like one you would see in a 700r4 or a Turbo 400.

Since my terminology is correct maybe I should just call back and see if I can get someone on the phone that knows what they are talking about.

Sounds like they sent you the wrong gear.
Weird tho', I don't think the 400, 350 or 700R4 use a 30 tooth Driven gear.

I'm an idiot!

ok so when i got home I pulled the gear out of my trans and when I compared them side by side I could see what the issue was, I currently have a steele shaft with a nylon gear so when they sent the new gear it is a one piece with a nylon shaft. It was throwing me off when I saw it in the package.

anyway I had a good laugh at myself but I am good.

Thanks for the reply's!
