Sorry Rob,not Tryin To Scare You,just Preparing You For What Could Be!i Love My Tr,but High Boost Sometimes Sucks!hopefully The Turbo Fixes Everything, But If Not,you Know What Else To Check!

Well I finally was able to put on the used stock turbo that I bought. Everything went back very nicely and I bought new hoses for the waste gate and turbo. I had a lot of blue smoke in the begining at idle and even the turbo was smoking little but no oil driping from anywhere.

So then I took a ride to Walmart, to get some stuff, about 20 minutes and 10 miles away and the smoke seem to burn off and got the turbo up the 8 psi, here and there just to see if it was working. It seem to pull pretty good but not the same as my old one. That would easly get up to 15-20psi in no time and tire would break free. I did not want to push anything so I just stayed with 5-8 psi. There is still no oil driping and the turbo stoped smoking.

But now on the way home each time I hit the gas hard enough to get some boost (5-8psi) there would blue smoke coming out. It would stop once the boost was gone and I was just crusing at 65-70 mph. Again if I would accelerate slow without boost, no smoke. If I hit the boost, blue smoke.

I got home and check the oil, antifreeze, under the car, the engine and turbo all look good, no oil or smoke while it was at idle. I even reved the engine to 3K rpms and no smoke.

It only seems the smoke blue out the exhaust under boost. But I did notice it did get alittle better when I did my last hit of boost before I got home.

Should I just keep on driving it and maybe the left over oil in the exhaust will work it self out (There was alot. The whole exhaust from the header to gutted cat to mufflers were coated with dry oil). Or do I still have an engine problem or is it my used turbo that I bought. I will eventully get a TA49 anyway I just bought the used stock turbo to see what was goinig on.

Thanks,

Rob

It might be oil that's in the intercooler that only gets picked up and cleaned out under boost. ????

SOUNDS LIKE THINGS ARE GETTIN BETTER!YES AS 0to60in4.5 SAID,CLEAN OUT THE INTERCOOLER WITH BRAKE CLEAN, K1,OR A LITTLE GASOLINE!PUT SOME IN, SLOSH IT ALL AROUND AN DRAIN UNTIL IT COMES OUT CLEAR!THEN TURN THE BOOST UP IF DESIRED A LITTLE,AND DRIVE IT TO SEE IF IT IS STILL RUNNING GOOD!IF OK,THEN I'D SET BOOST BACK TO AT LEAST FACTORY SETTINGS AND SEE HOW SHE IS!GOOD LUCK!

I bet it spooled like mad with a broken hose on the old turbo... be happy it didnt lift a head and blow the motor.
