Nice move with the champagne!

Happy New Year

looking good. kep us posted. I spent alot on my paint job and yours looks like its in the right direction. i would have pulled the doors and header panel and hood and a few other things but that **** adds up quick.

Looks like they are coming along good with it and from what I see you are getting at least your moneys worth or MORE. Everyone wants it done right but when you pull doors off to paint, get ready to PAY boost231 lol. In the painting buiness there are 3 types of paint jobs most refer to. A scuff and shoot which is pretty much what it says. A driver paint job which is dents fixed, some things removed and others masked off during the painting process then the third is a full off show job where pretty much everything is taken off the car. As you can imagine the price starts off cheaper and increases as it goes up the scale. Everyone wants it done right but few are willing to pay for it. Thats like saying a want a 9 second motor for my buick, build me one please for 2000 bucks. That is NOT going to happen lol. Painting is the same way. You are not paying for the paint guys, that is the cheap part in painting. You are paying for the labor and experiance of the body man. The best painter in the worlds paint job will still suck if the body man didn't do his job! Do a paint job just one time!! You will find out in a hurry why they charge you for it, it's labor intensive to say the least if you are doing anything other than a scuff and shoot. If I have one with checking in the paint, buick or other it is a loosing battle to fix it with materials guys. The only way to fix it right is to strip the car DOWN and start over. I have a rosewood T here right now from Brian at Gbody parts and it was checkered. I am lucky to have a guy close to me that soda blasts. He came saturday and did it for me. That is THE way to go guys in my opioin. It did a wonderful job on the car! Gets all the little cracks and crannies in a hurry. I will take some pics if you guys want to see how it works. I took a few of them blasting it also. Daniel Ray

i will have to agree with the soad blasting. thats what they did to my car and wow thats a awsome process. i also know of them using walnut shells as well. only problem with soda is it gets everywhere.

After all that work and $$$$$ I sure would look for a beater car instead of making the TR a daily driver. Nothing worse than getting your first door ding and you WILL get one quickly if it is a DD not to mention increasing the look at me factor with the car thieves.

My car always had the worst paint around but it was a sort of security blanket. It made me hope it was less likely to get stolen. But it never bothered me because it ran great, handled great and stopped great. Now that it is painted I am a little more paranoid than I already was.

Looks great. Just make sure you have a blast with it.

That's probably what has held me up from getting my paint redone as well. My paint is OLD. But with a fresh wax and polish, it is a good 15 foot car(looks real good from 15 feet away). Get up close and you start seeing the imperfections, chips, dings, etc. The car draws a lot of attention as it is. WIth a show quality paint job, that's gonna be even worse, and I'll be scared to death to actualy get out and drive it for fear fo getting new stone chips, door dings and all the other crap that goes with living in the real world. I'm afraid it would never get out fo the garage....and what good is THAT????????????

Wow! It looks amazing!
I guess all that hard work in removing all the and pieces trim was well worth it.

What year GN do u have?
How much did all the work cost you- trim removal, sanding, paint prep, paint, buffing, etc?

U have to post before and after pics.

Frank

That looks really sweet. But, damn, it makes me miss the show quality paint job that was on my 86 GN before it was totaled. Looked like a black mirror. I know I'm gonna spend some $$$ to get my other GN painted.
