GTA Rims weigh less than 18 lbs, probably around 16 lbs. It's hard to find lighter rims than GTA's.

i weighed a bunch of wheels with tires last summer- including a GTA with 225/60/16 tires on it.
i don't remember the specific weights, but the 15X9 aluminum slot with 275/60/15 from the back of my Monte weighed more than a steel mid 80's 1/2 ton 2wd rally wheel with a 235/70/15 tire.
the GTA wheel/tire combo weighed about half of what the big slot wieghed, and quite a bit less than the 15X7 slot with the 235/60/15 tire.
now i wish i had a bathroom scale- i've got the GTA's taken off my regal out in the shop right now.. i bet with the 245/50/16 Fuzions they weigh less than 25 pounds each.

They arent that light imo. Any drag rim like a weld will be lighter. My front rim and tire together weigh 11lbs per side

you'd lose that bet

gtas 17lbs
245/50-16s 31lbs
guess so. good thing i didn't bet any money. but they do feel really light compared to any other wheels i've had, and unlike the ultra light drag wheels that have been mentioned in this thread, they are OEM certified to take some abuse.
your weight with the tire on the rim is only a few pounds more than the bare steel wheel in the OP.
i really need to get a bathroom scale. i've got a bunch of other car parts i want to weigh.

I should have said light for a 16" wheel you can take high speed corners with. Most aftermarket 16X8 wheels don't weigh much less, unless they are big bucks.

I wasn't comparing them to motorcycle wheels.

GTA's are a good choice to save weight John, if you like the look they are a great replacement.

Bryan has some beautiful wheels listed there as well:cool:

Even with 235's in front and 275's in back they are still much lighter than the GTA rims. Ill take 15" light rims with shaved R1's over any 16's with hard as a rock radials any day. It will be quicker, corner, and stop better by a lot. Then again if i wanted a car that handled i wouldnt own a Buick. A vette or a viper with aftermarket tires and a couple suspension mods will make it nearly impossible for any g-body to be close in performance.

Guys-

You all have very valid points, but (John correct me if I am wrong) the starter of this origional thread is not building an all out road course assault car or a 9 second dragster...............

In my opinion only he is just looking to make a daily driver just a little lighter in his efforts to get into the 11's.

Bryan lives in Kansas City, he is QUICK6NKC in this post. I was just admiring his aluminum wheels he has on his car.

If I see any for sale I will PM you.
