My car will randomly rev up to 2000rpms and hold there for a bit then slowly come down sometimes after startup. I was told that if I clean my IAC this will fix it. How do I clean it? I checked gnttype.org, and maybe I missed it, but I didnt see any info on cleaning it.

remove it from the throttlebody and with a small wir brush clean any deposit's off the pintle (tip of IAC) reinstall and recalibrate with scan tool.

Good morning,

Get engine to running temp. Shut off engine and ground the ALDL (upper two right terminals). Key on engine off for about 20 seconds, then unplug AIC and then turn off key; remove IAC valve (this will extand the valve). Clean valve as suggested above (you can use carb cleaner too) and clean the housing also. Replace IAC, but do not plug in connector. Start engine and adjust idle. RPM setting will vary between cars, but something around 700 is good. Once set, check TPS setting and adjust if needed. You are looking for about .44-.46 at idle and 4.6+ at WOT. If all is good, plug in IAC and start engine. Again, look and listen and adjust as needed. IAC counts on a scanner should be in the 20s, this again will vary from car to car. Did I miss anything?

Hope this helps.
