I noticed on one site that their is a pintal difference between the hot air and intercooled IAC's. I just pulled mine out and mine looks like the 86-87 one. I'm guessing this is a no-no?

I pulled mine to replace since the Iac counts were stuck at 0. I ordered one from g body parts and the tips were different. I think an 87 IAC somehow ended up in my throttle body somewhere along the way.

what does this iac look like? where exactly located? is it ez to remove and replace? my car has always idled high during warm up and even after it has been drive it idles close to 2000 on the stock light rev tach. could my high idle be due to a bad iac? if not where else should i bee looking at ?

The 84/85 and 86/87 IAC are different but only the tip, I work at Oreilly Auto and I ordered in a hot air IAC just to check them out side by side we have the 86/87 in stock, the tips were different and the price about 50 bucks more for the hot air IAC, I'd sure like to know if the 86/87 would work in the 84/85
