MINNEAPOLIS — Seventy-seven and counting.

Aaron McNary scored five touchdowns as Smith Center defeated Minneapolis 63-17 in a Class 2-1A playoff game Saturday night.

The Redmen have now won a nation’s-best 77 consecutive games, including 27 in postseason play.

Smith Center (10-0) advances to the quarterfinals and a home game against Meade (10-0), which routed St. Francis 48-6 Saturday.

McNary, a junior, scored on runs of 69, 4, 13, 15 and 65 yards. He scored his first two touchdowns in the second quarter as the Redmen led 21-7 at halftime and 28-7 after three quarters.

McNary added his last three touchdowns in the fourth quarter as the Redmen pulled away. Alex Hobelmann had touchdowns runs of 4 and 8 yards for Smith Center.

Keegan McCullick threw touchdown passes of 32 and 54 yards to Greyson George, and Andrew Yoxall kicked a 44-yard field goal for Minneapolis (6-4).

of course we love football here in texas

if you don't believe me check out the shrines that some of our schools have. maybe not a win streak like that but plenty of titles. some of the stadiums look like a good college team plays there.

I have been by many of them, they look like our Jr College stadiums up here:biggrin:

like friday nite lights movie

most texas towns have great programs and some of the most packed stadium seating you can think of. too many to list just in the DFW area.

Figured I'd bump this thread to the top. B&B is in the state championship game again this year, still undefeated. Not quite the winning streak that smith center has but it's been over two years since they lost a game. They didn't have to start playing full games until the playoffs, and they won last night's substate game by 44 points, against another undefeated team. I wish they were in the same class, because regardless of who won, it would be a damn good game to watch.
