If i am understanding you correct, the 2- 3 pin connectors that are together are your injector plugs, the other two are for the cam sensor and the crank sensor

These 2

Even though the plug into each other it doesn't go that way the coil need a reading for it to run it's simple you'll figure it out trust me

Half ass got it figured, looks like everything is hooked up right but I'm not getting any spark. What's the procedure for tracking down a no spark issue ?

There's an electric spark control module located near the map sensor start there if you plugs and wires are all good move on to the crank sensor then cam sensor btw what year is your car?

So is mine had it since 2001 look on vortex buicks you should find helpful info there also

Are yo definite that it has no spark? On vortex buick.com read carefully it should walk u right through (y):bookworm:

Did u pull a wire and connect a spark plug to it to see if it's firing? If not try it I usually will pull #1 sit it near the windshield and crank it to look for lightning

Didn't try that yet was trying to find my old spark tester but I'll give that a shot tomorrow and post back. Thanks for the help guys

Has anybody recently or previously worked on the car. To make a long story short I had my front cover aka timing cover replaced the shop didn't switch over the crank sensor so I was in a similar situation no spark trying to figure it out, keep me updated

Well here's the deal just bought it off a guy who was a bit of a car collector, he purchased it a year or so back and says it kept shutting off while driving when it got hot so he began replacing all of the sensors but kept having the same problem, took it to a shop and was told there was a short somewhere in the engine harness. He bought another used one off eBay took the old one off and pretty much gave up on it there. Most the sensors and what not look new so his story kinda seemed legit, now I have have it all hooked back up and I'm at the point I'm at now. Didn't really care if it ran or not because the body is nice and I got it for a good price, planning on switching over to a 87 drivetrain soon but wanted to get this motor back going just to see what I'm working with

Makes sense, one thing u should know is that everyone wants the 86-87 our hot air are far more rare. I'm gonna let u know how I get to the bottom of my problem it's doing the same thing gets warm and won't run until I let it sit a few min my timing needs to be set for sure maybe we have a similar issue

Just used to the 87 setup looks a hell of a lot better too and I would like to run in the 10's one day.

Also really check the cam sensor if it's set way off car won't start it could be 180 out and over fueling the cylinders, oops almost forgot check the orange wire near the bat it's for ur ecm

Orange wire is hooked up should I check out the cam sensor first or check the plug for spark
