Hey everyone i just freshened the Stock block bolted on a set of Champion Ported GN1s and comp roller 218/214 . along with the inj the Precision intake , TB .......etc . Got it running yeasterday , everything looking good . So making a long story short on a short ride i got into it a little , which was in retrospect a bad idea , and the oil Pressure i noticed dropping , and i hear tapping im like Fu9K this isnt good .I go the 3 blocks home and Pull in now its REAL LOW the Oil psi , shut it off . i find the part on the oil pump and front cover that holds the spring has somehow backed out almost the whole way . I tighten it back up but its too late , knock and lifter noise . Prob. from them bleading down . Car is also blowing big time smoke , rings got wreaked too im guessing . So the motor has to come back out and being winter has just started i will have to wait until spring . Im pretty not happy to make an understatement . These are the times i want to throw a 572 crate motor in the car and say Fu6k the 3.8 turbo gig . Which i may just do depending how annoyed i get . At least the only thing i had in the Shortblock was studs , bearings and rings . So at least if it has to become a pool cover holder / flower pot etc i dont have any expensive parts into it . I would have prefered to destroy the motor doing a 10 sec pass if it had to happen . :(

Ok lets put what you have said into prespective as some of it doesnt make any sense. When you say the bypass plug backed out almost all the way, did it ever come off totally, and if it didnt how much oil leaked out of it ? Did the motor run dry?

Also about the smoke... did it smoke before the oil pressure problem?

Getting on new motor will cause failure no matter what anyone says.My last 2 motors have been run hard shortly after their builds and both are fine.

Some motors are doomed from the get go. It may not have been anything you did.

It didnt come off completly but i guess it came out enough to drop the oil pressure . The spring and that part it holds has to do with oil pressure . Changing the spring will Lower or raise it i belive , i always used the blue spring .It was two quarts low when i got back . It wasnt smoking before the oil pressure prob. At this point it dosnt mater its screwed up and has to come out and im annoyed . That and winter will put it off a while and im not a big fan of winter myself , as a matter of fact i hate it and will be moving as soon as another matter is settled . I was just venting Dec isnt a good month for me in the past and i suppose still . Stupid stuff seems to happen for me from Nov-Jan/Feb its my bad luck time/s of year . I know that sounds crazy but im a little Ok sometimes alot crazy .

I can understand your frustration. In my opinion the 2 qt loss wont neccesarily the cause the problems you mentioned. There are other problems in there. Good Luck.

I've been there, only I paid thousands to have bad results.

I like my turbo mustang more every day.

Park it for awhile, then when you feel better tear into it again. I'm pretty much convinced if you're gonna race buicks you'd better like pulling and freshening engines.

NOPE! You just gotta know what your doing...........

I know it really sucks to learn lessons this way but it was YOUR fault, not the car. A person f%$#@ it up, not a bad design or a bad part. Your right, put it away and cool off. You'll fix it when your head clears and IF it works for you the second time you'll be happy. You won't make that mistake twice.

yeah it prob. would be best to rebuild but i blew a oil filter off my car and when it happond it was 23' outside and i was running 100+ MPH for over a 1/4 when i pulled the motor found no bearing or internal damage. may have just had the lifter bleed down. drain the rest of the oil and see if there is any metal.

Well ill get to eventually i guess . The only good thing was i got that motor about 3yrs ago from a buddy for $500, had hundreds of passes on it running 25-30psi and then Nitrousing it for a few months until the HG went back a few weeks ago . So at least i got alot of fun out of it .
