i took it for a test drive after puting my new TA-49 on there and all i can say is holey $hlt. i was going about 25 and i hit the throttle.....turbo spooled to 17lbs. and i was taking up 2 WHOLE lanes trying to keep it under control but after 2 seconds it was going from one lane to the other:eek: and i was the only one on the road so it was all good:D but damn, it's like my car just woke up after sleeping and i was running 7.60's@ 89mph with my stocker:eek: i really have know idea what it's going to run now?

YEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH.........

That is the kinda of stuff I like to hear:D

Just be sure you get the hang of it before it bites ya;)

The torque the turbo Buick generates is what impresses everyone and anyone who drives one whether it be stock or modified. I remember test driving a new 86 Grand National in late 1985. I was so impressed with the way it would position you in the seat at full throttle. But, I wanted a V8 thinking that the eight would last longer. So I also tested an 86 Monte Carlo and Mustang 5.0. The Monte Carlo was simply all show and no go, the Mustang was just a tad better but clearly not in the same league as the turbo Regal. I bought the Buick and have never looked back. As modifications are made to these cars and power is increased the turbo Regal will quickly overpower the pavement. At 21 lbs boost with my stage 1, with leaded racing fuel and BFG Drag Radials it actually hazed the tires at 60 MPH in 3rd gear. I held on for dear life when I felt the rear move left and right at that speed. Phenomenal performers these turbo Buicks.

You aint kidding when i first purchased my car i thought it was fast but after i did everything i did especially after the the ta61 and IC i put in boy o boy it is like nothing else, i had my stress cracks fixed but right after the turbo was installed guess what , back to the body shop it is :D ripping through 2nd and 3rd tell me what other car could do that. turbocody enjoy but be safe dont forget ;)

Thats great cody.I had a ta49 on the Gn before I went to the 63 and it spooled fast as heck.Couldn't hook it at all with the 3200 stall and other stuff in the sig.Sometimes a hint of lag can be a good thing.Just keep her between the lines and good work man!

Actually it spools a little faster than my stocker did beleive it or not. i can break the tires loose at 40 at 17psi w/ my 275/50/15 Radial Tires set at 22psi:eek: and i have a stock converter also. i think the car can go 7.20's w/ the boost turned up to around 23-24 and run about 93-94mph locking the converter. BUT someone told me that after 7.50's you are pushing a stock motor so i will just de-tune the car to 7.60's or so and let it rip.:p

I have the drag radials and there set to 28lb's and let me tell you i get no damn traction what so ever i think they are over rated.

BFG Drag Radials are manufactured with a very soft compond. They offer good handling, control and traction on turbo Buicks provided they are not cold. I have heard of cars running deep into in the eights on Drag Radials however, they are not at the same level as drag slicks when racing at the track. I would not dare test drive my turbo Regal stage 1 on the street without them.

Well it is pretty cold over here right now so thats probably why, plus iam yet to heat them up and launch hopefully this summer will get a chance

well...i have a pair of Hoosier slicks set at 12psi and i take them when i go Drag Racing and all through first it gets real squirly:eek: but then again that was back when i had the stock turbo running 7.70-7.60's  i have tried the slicks on concrete and asphalt, and they aren't any better than my street tires. but once you get the slicks hot at the track then it's better.

That reminds me of my GN.I always ran street slicks on it and after I put it back on the street I picked up a set on MT indy profiles on a trade. One saturday I was Cruising down Woodman drive and along pulls up a 5.0 roaring up beside me .I just thought buddy you really dont wnt to mess with me Itll just show your stupidiy.
We are cruising along about 45 MPH and he nails it so I naturally hammer mine .That te 44 turbo kicked in Right now and next thing I know Im looking stright at his door goin about 55 mPH.
Got the heart rate up to say the least .next day bought a set of DRAG RADIALS.I will never run any standard street tire on my GN again.I think the safest all around tire is the Nitto But the Drag radial Bites a little better

Past a certain level, even a slick won't offer sufficient traction on the street. A little common sense goes a long way when driving a high-torque car on the street. Keep the boost low and go light on the throttle.
