Trans has 22,000 miles on it and has never been rebuilt. Running a red stripe converter, hardened stator, Level 10 shift kit, trans cooler, Stage Right trans brake, aluminum deep pan. Frequent fluid and filter changes. Recently replaced the TCC solenoid and when I dropped the pan found a small section (maybe 3/8" long)of what looked like a part of a snap ring on the magnet. Had some small bits of shiny metal in the pan also. Just did a fluid drain to check on what was in there after about another 1000 miles and had some small bits of metal shavings in the pan. Is this a sign of impending doom or what. Tranny shifts as hard as usual, no slipping etc.

If it is on the way out I would like to get one of Bruces trannys but we are on opposite coasts. Bruce, do you have distributors of your trans out here in the New England area or are complete transmissions only available from you?

I would think about sending him yours, maybe over the winter, get it redone by him so it can be tailored to you specific needs. I think round trip shipping is only approx. $300-350. I think you'd have to send him yours anyway as i believe there's $600 core charge on BRF's

Will give you a call during the week, Bruce. Just wondering if I am being paranoid here but I know these metal chips are not a good thing. LOL Maybe shipping mine out to you would be the way to go.

Anything more than just dust ain't usually a good thing exspecailly with only that few of miles between checking.

Well.....

The thing that bothers me is the first statement. "piece of snap ring" you said. That would concern me the most. Can you send me the piece or pic it real close and clear. Did you even save it? Anyway let us know...

Put the piece on the workbench and ended up losing it! This really sucks as the tranny is working flawlessly, nice firm shifts, no slipping, etc. but I know something isn't right. Looks like it might be taking a cross country trip on a pallet this fall.
