Yesterday I got all of my 2 runs at E-town. I did manage to get a new best of 12.11 @112. I used VP 108, with my JC 100 chip. Boost was 24 lbs, 0 knock, 760 O2. I know I can get to the 11s by giving more boost, which it appears I can handle, then I won't have to worry since I don't have a bar and 11's are a no-no, but regardless, I would have hit 11's yesterday had my 60' been better. I was able to hold about 3 psi on my 26 x 9 Hoosiers, then it felt like it was going to creep so I let it rip. The best I could muster was 1.8. I know guys with my converter that get 1.65. They may have bigger stickies, I'm not sure.
Anyway, what should I do to drop them to at least 1.7s? The car felt like it was inching to the left when it was at its limit and when I let off, and I needed to correct a bit. The Hoosiers had 15.5 psi.

Thanks!

I would recommend a pair of s10 wheel cylinders and an
Art Carr 9" converter. One air bag wouldn't hurt either. A good pair of KYB gas shocks will help too.

Not sure if I'd go with any lower air pressure in those tires unless you have rim screws (can you even use them on that tire?).

This may sound stupid, but I think a lot of people have done it in the past and it defiately can affect your 60' times... when you launch the car, get off the brake and on the gas as FAST as you can. Pay attention to that... make sure you're not lazy with your feet or still partially applying the brake while you're getting on the gas.

When you are staging, make sure you are "in the groove". Your launches will suffer if you aren't on a good patch of rubber.

Finally, if you really want that 11.99 time slip but your brakes won't let you hold more than 3psi, try using the e-brake to launch at say 5-7psi (depends what the tires will hold).

Good luck & have fun!

P.S. I think you might get just a little bit extra out of your 60' times by shallow staging. Don't quote me on that though.

Make sure your your wastegate puck is completely shut at the line. Sometimes depending on the chip and /or boost setting, the puck will open just enough to bleed boost off at the line making it harder to launch the car since more rpm is need to overcome open puck.

I discovered this problem on my car when I decreased the boost from 22 psi to 18psi during bracket racing. The result was that the car was nearly impossible launch because the brakes could not hold the extra rpm that was needed to overcome the slightly open puck - (the 4 turns on the actuator were enough to bring it in a range where the boost solenoid was able to effect the launch boost, where previously it only started opening the puck at a much higher boost level)

The best fix for this is an electronic boost controller (HKS) that uses a precise stepping motor that will keep the puck closed till the very last second. This will help in every gear since boost will build super fast.

The last thing you want is trying to build boost at the line with a partially open waste gate

Thanks for the suggestions guys. A different converter is out of the question since my 2800-3000 stall is brand new (100 miles old). I don't think that it's a major problem though. Guys have gotten 1.6's on the same one. I wouldn't think I'd need to leave with more than 2-3 lbs of boost for a decent 60' anyway.
I know my suspension is likely an issue. My shocks are really old looking, I'd guess they have 60k+ miles on them. Just no $$ for new ones now. I ordered an air bag yesterday for the passenger rear.
As far as my slicks, they are not screwed, and they do have tubes...so I'm hoping that doesn't become a problem. I don't know if they have the potential to be screwed or not. They are an old tire (guessing 6-8 years old...they guy I bought the car from gave them to me with it). They don't seem shot from age though. When I burn out they get sticky and scammer as heck.
Regarding my launch, I sure try to get off the brake and slam the gas ASAP, but you never know I guess. I'm sure I could be quicker. There's so many distractions it's easy to lose focus on one thing or another.
