hey everyone, i got the new intercooler installed now and want to start tuning this thing. here is what it has that would affect the numbers. stock motor, stock headers, exhaust, ta49 turbo or maybe slightly bigger, ford powerstroke IC, 50lbs MSD injectors, 16 degree timing knock off (argh . . .) ME chip. I have the fuel PSI set at around 42 psi line off. boost is like 10 to 12? right now, dont really know because i havent stomped on it in so long, but i have my deltagate controller turned all the way down. what should i set the boost and fuel PSI at to start watching some numbers? dont wanna just turn it up to 17 and then see the engine blow or anything. this will be run on 93 octane gas for the time being. thanks

Its too hard to say because EVERY car is different. The BEST advice I can give you is to go to www.ramchargers.com and order a SCANMASTER! Put it on your dash, and you can tune your car to its max. That was the best $250 that I EVER spent on my car. Bought it when it was going 14.0, now it goes 11.0. I wont even dare put my foot to the floor if the SCANMASTER isnt hooked up!

hey, i got turbolink v 3.0 or whatever, the new thing, but the battery for the laptop wont last to long. scanmaster would be nice if i had the money, but unfortunatly i dont right now. im broke. just wanna set my boost and stuff to a baseline that wont hurt and start tuning from there, im really paranoid about turning it up from 10 right now.

Unfortunately, you cant tune your car without tools (gauges, EGT, WBO2, regular O2 readings, ScanMaster, TurboLink, Direct Scan, etc. etc).

I have MSD50's and set them at 45psi line off. This is my BASE setting. I had to tune from there via Direct Scan. It turned out that I was running lean (even though there wasnt any knock retard). I increased fuel via my Translator +. I still needed more fuel. My static fuel pressure is now 52psi (my injectors are at there limit).

I would say, put your fuel pressure at 44 or 45 with the vacuum line off. When my combo was similar to yours (stock longblock, stock headers, stock downpipe, TA49, stock intercooler 42.5lb injectors and running 12.20@111) I was safe at 15psi on 93 octane with a street chip and about 18 degrees of timing.

I would get that laptop working, or borrow someone elses for a day. Maybe someone on the board is in your area that can hook a scan tool up to your car. Good luck, and BE CAREFUL.

When ever you get the extra money buy a power inverter for your laptop $30 to $40 for it.
