Good stuff! All that Indy involvement put Buick about a decade ahead of the rest of GM with the SFI and distributor-less ignition. Imagine how ferocious the street TR could have been if Corvette didn't have to be top dog? The engineers may have gone for the good old Stage 1 455 510 ft-lb rating.

Interesting story. One of my favorites lines in the story:
"More of a qualifying special than anything that could withstand 200 laps of hard racing, the Buick dazzled its
drivers with silly power but was little more than a hand-grenade waiting for the pin to fall out."

Now why would they say that about a 1,000+ hp Buick Turbocharged V-6?
