info on turbo needed...

Been doing a lot of searching, but figured I'd post my exact combo for some onpinions. Looking to upgrade turbo. Here's the deal.

Stock engine
Stock tranny
2 1/2" Hooker exhaust system
3" THDP with dump
MSD 50's
Translator +
Razor's Alky
Turbo Tweak chip
Stock IC

All I can afford to do right now is Turbo and converter. My future plans include champion irons, and 206/206 roller cam.

Which turbo would be good for this combo, and will still work ok when I do the heads?
I may have a chance to pick up a TA60 reasonable, would this be a good choice?

If you're going to be going with a converter I'd say a TE-61 with around a 3200 stall. Should put a smile on your face I'm only running a 2800 and it's a little laggy.

I agree. That's my next turbo upgrade. I already have a Vigilante 3200 stall sitting in my garage but can't use it cause I recently blew up my tranny.

Ben, you dont need a roller, they are not worth the money you spend on them unless you are making a HUGE amount of power (700+ range).

If I were you I'de build the trans, put a hardended stator in it, buy a precision vigilante 2800 L/U or non L/U (doesnt matter) and run a te61 OR a ta61.

Later on buy an intercooler and turn up the boost, you should get the car down to 7teens 1/8 and mid to low 11's 1/4.

TE61 is a great turbo with about 3K stall. Lots of customers very happy with the combo!

My original Tranny started slipping after I was making enough power to run 8.2 + 86MPH in the 1/8 mile. That was with the stock turbo. I don't what kind of life your stock tranny will have running high to mid 11's.
