Wow, the racism on this thread is thick. Any minute now Gov. George Wallace will rise up from the dead and post here...

They all who ?

I would say he meant gangsta rappers,+ i'd have to agree.
You call racism ,but have you ever listened to the lyrics of most of that garbage, it's all anti white ,anti cop, degrading women, carrying + using their "gats" gang violence, etc. But when one of them gets killed because of their lifestyle, they are like a martyr + become a hero in the ghetto, but to most americans they are not hero's ,the exact opposite,I don't know to what extent he rapped about those things, because i don't listen to any of it,but once people started complaining about the lyrics they all seemed to back off some on the nastiness, but because people look at gangsta rappers like gang members, + thugs, which is how most portray themselves, don't condemn people for disliking them + then call them racist,i have no respect for gangsta rappers or listen to their music, but I do listen to lots of great black musicians + am probably one of the least racist people you will meet,Just don't like gangsta rappers or the majority of their messages.
There is one thing that has become pretty clear in the last decade or so, + that is, that it's usually the person claiming racism these days that is the most racist of all. For example: The so-called Reverands, "Reverand Wright","Reverand Jackson","Reverand Sharpton, "Reverand Farakhan" etc.just to name a few.
OOps sorry i meant to quote post # 21 about the racism,not #20 .

Ok well dang sorry uncle Charlie, but

I like the older rap and remember ice cube was one of the original gangster rappers along with 2pac.

Now he's making kid movies and both are/were great business people. So you can't judge a book by its cover.

It's your choice Billy, but the way the life these people live is portrayed is bad, period. Talk about "capping" someone isn't a good thing and to have kids that will soak it up like a sponge is even worse. How would you like it if your kids came home talking like that and maybe even killing some one and thinking it's no bid deal. You know exactly what I mean and we discussed your tour once. I'll leave it at that and hope you think about it with the kids in mind.

It is extremely racist and very derogatory to people in general. Don't like it and don't want to listen to it. Garbage in, garbage out as far as I'm concerned. It has no redeming value as a rule and makes bad choices seem like a good thing.

Rap thugs. Black, white, yellow, and green ones...the polka dotted ones too.
Talkin bout bustin caps, hoes, killing cops etc.... you know who "they" are.
They need to at least be sterilized.

It's not racism, it's trashism. Nothing positive in the crap they spew.

I agree to disagree , I dont like gangsta rap , I do like Hip Hop almost all kinds of music from blue grass to Latino sounds , but do realize there are alot of Gangsta white rappers , I could name a few hundred of them they live in the hood tooooo. It's just funny how much things that people dont understand has to do with color , I have heard heavy metal , satanic rock , bone crusher which most of them have racist/hate overtone , that music is no different maybe even worst , but I dont want any of them to kill each other , they are doing something they like .

RIP Mr. Pak...

His tunes were understandably ahead of his contemporaries. Myself, I like me some Dr. Dre and Ice Cube. With that said, I'm not a super big rap fan. I kinda notice some of it. I'm actually listening to Foghat currently...soo, I kinda prefer the "oldies". But in all fairness, what else is he (2pak) going to rap about other than what he and his audience experience. The songs aren't speaking of noble pursuits by no means, but I think as the listener we are to except the "artist" point of view for the sake of the stories experience. Kinda like you have to except that Camaros can turn into Robots with guns a blazin in order to enjoy Transformers.

I prefer me some Weird Al Yankovich...

Also good! he was great, but not black or dead. Neither was Foghat, haha! Well some of them have passed due to the , em' snorting problem of the 70's:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

Got any links to some Weird Al??

Heres a Question

FOR ALL OF YOU!!!

what is Rock and Metal music... basically a bunch of self mutilating, self hating, garbage that has no point, instead of hopping around in a cirlcle banging your head and slitting wrists, and talking about how life bad is, and death... seems pretty similar to me...

NOT ALL RAP/R&P/HIP-HOP music is about B*tches, hoes, cash, money, cars, murder, Gangs C and B walkin... but ill be honest.. alot of it is...
If you all remember or are willing to listen, there is/are positive (urban) if you feel more comfortable calling it that music out there and there are hundreds of artists that actually have a message, and stray away from mainstream rap music...

such as
de la soul, heavy D, D.Black, Naughty By nature, Erykah badu, black milk, J Dilla, Mista Madd, LL cool J, The fresh prince, craig mack, Hieroglyphics, kanye west (when he first started), Talib Kweli, Sir mix alot (we all love that song!!)

Case in point... some of the music has a bad rep, but if you dig deeper and listen, theres some good music out there...

and With 2pac he was One artist that actually had a point with his music AND a message, LISTEN TO THE LYRICS OF THESE TRACKS!!!

Just because there are rap songs about violant lifestyles doesn't mean its garbage. It's the way some people are brought up and into this world. And half of its fictional. You guys are ignorant to trash rap music because the talk about violence.

The same people will be glued to the screen watching Suprano's, and Mafia movies and telling people they are the best movies of all times. And they make Hard working Italians look like heartless murderers and criminals.

90's Rap Music is king. I have the First DMX CD in my car right now. And I havn't killed anyone yet from listening to it.

Oh yeah. If you think Tupac is on the level with The Beatles your sticking needles in your arm. The Beatles are legendary singers, song writers and talented musicians. Tupac was just a good Poet.

I would have to agree a lot with Romone here. Tupac and Biggie were two of the best rappers out there imho. There lives were cut short because of a feud between the East and West coast rappers. Which actually was a feud between two music producing companies who had a falling out. One was accused of having another killed, etc etc. Biggie's death was payback. Tupac's later was payback for Biggie's.. That is what ultimately caused their death.. Not their gangster life styles.. Although I am sure it didn't help..

and yet to this day the SAME record companies are still struggling and beefing, alot of artists are starting thier own recording studios because major rap producers and production companies are going bust, due to online downloads, or CD rips ect..

the music industry although still strong is not as strong when as it was in the early 90s when rap music was coming out because alot of major producers were exploiting these artists talents and tracks, mass producing it, and therefore over time IMO talent and taste gets cut...
alot of artists these days come out with a clothing line, which is a VERY smart move... all the new music that comes out now can now be downloaded for free on the internet, and off of youtube if you know how to do it (CMON IM SUPRISED PEOPLE DONT KNOW HOW TO DO THIS!!!!:eek::eek:) so if the production industry goes south.. all the artists have thier fame and clothing/products to fall back on.
