Decided to take the afternoon off and tackle the powerlogger install. I was a little nervous about the whole deal but it had to be done.

I followed the instructions and it was actually pretty easy. The only thing I did different is I didn't separate the computer boards. I tried but they didn't want to come apart so I cleaned the contacts with them together and slid the powerlogger in between them.

I had read someone else did it this way so I knew it could be done.

I got everything back together and the car starts and runs just like before. I didn't have the laptop at work so I haven't loaded the software and hooked it up yet but the good news is I didn't break anything installing it.

I went to install the 2.2 chip in my scanmaster and it won't work. I evidently have the old SM with the small chip so until I get a new SM I won't be able to use that function of the PL. I do have my WB hooked up to the PL so I can at least log that.

My question is what is the best way to hook up my map sensor so I can log boost?

Got to vortex buick site. Forgot the actual.address but google it and.itll.pop up. Great write up on it

Here are some hints for connecting the analog unit, as contributed by a generous member.

"Instructions to connect PL to monitor boost."
1. Stock MAP sensor can be used but only goes to 15#, otherwise purchase and install 3 bar MAP sensor. (which goes up to about 30# I think)
2. "Tap" or "splice into" the MAP output signal, green wire, at pin A, terminal C437 behind glove box with a new piece of wire
3. Route new wire to input 2 on the I\O connection provided with PL kit.

4. Run provided connection unit cable from I\O connection to PL input next to USB cable port.

Note that digital dash cars have no power in the harness for the MAP sensor. The best source for feeding the MAP sensor would be the 5 volts and ground that feed the TPS.

I have the middle one of the 3 pictures so mine can be updated. I'll send it in this winter if I feel I need to. I already have a WB gauge so not really sure it's necessary for the other functions?

I'll keep my SM in the car that I have I just might not hook it up to the PL.
That will work I got 2 SM in mine 2.1 version and the 2.2 version also Best of both worlds as I can watch 4 functions at 1 time . a little bit of overkill but what the heck

I thought I recorded a run tonight but evidently I didn't save it right? I named it run1 and saved it in my documents and all that is there is a file named dat1 and no info in the file.

Go to your powerlogger console and get it up and click f3 and then click load and then see if your file run1 dat is in downloads section then click it and then you can see your run on the screen

I must have done something wrong? I can't find the file run1? When I load the dat file it looks like I was just sitting there idling?? I hit the space bar in the record section and made a 3rd gear pull then I hit the space bar again and pulled over to save it. I renamed it and hit save. Not sure what happened but I searched the hard drive and the file isn't anywhere. My laptop battery is bad so I have about a 15 minute window before it goes dead. I need to get a new battery so I can safety get some runs in.

I read about the quick save feature and don't really understand it. How do I set it up so once I make a run I can just use the quick save feature and make another run without pulling over?

One other thing I noticed is my rpms don't match either. Car said 2200rpm and PL said 3500rpm?
