Intercooler Question

I stumbled across this Intercooler ( $549 Extreme) on Mark's website and was wondering if anyone had any opinions on it? I am on a budget, so was wondering if ya think this Intercooler would be good for my car? I just sold my SLIC, so looking to get a FM. My track time is in my sig, car will prob run low 11's at the most, but just curious to know if this can get it done?

There at one time was a comparison chart of all the popular intercoolers around here but I can’t seem to find it now. Can’t remember if it was on it or not. I’m thinking of selling my PTE FMIC and getting marks super extreme. I have never seen a negative remark about his FMIC. At one time there was a problem with tank failures I think but this was years ago.

Yea i'm gonna prob lean towards mark's SE intercooler soon. My only question is will the intercooler kill airflow to the Trans cooler I have? I DO NOT have air conditioning so my condenser IS removed to aid in airflow. I figured the dual fans pulling in air would not make a difference on the cooling of the trans cooler.......am I wrong?

Have never had any failure with any of the ones we have sold. These are also on sale right now for 10% off. I run the Super Extreme one in my own GN and have never had a problem and the fit is perfect. You won't go wrong buying either one.

I ran my trans cooler in back of the IC and never had an issue. Last year in an attempt to clean up the motor compartment a bit I ended up going with one of those coolers with the fan attached to it and mounted it under the battery and not even using the cooler in the radiator. Also eliminated the engine oil cooler as well.

Yea it should be fine....The trans cooler has the dual fans pulling air right behind it so it should not be a problem at all.

Why did you sell the stock location? Engine temp will rise 10-20* also.

I have a F-body Rad..Dual SPAL Fans..160 stat..and no AC and this got my car to running 158-167 all the time, so I think I should be fine with a front mount..lol..but to answer your question I have had a SLIC for quite a while and want something new to try out, FMIC seems more efficient being in the front of the car rather in the hot engine bay, but then again i'm spraying alky so it makes up.

This debate will always go on IMO, i'm just trying something new, and i'm kinda sick of brackets, and scoops..lol

It does make it a lot easier to work on the front of the motor.

Yup exactly...I feel that as long as ya got a decent cooling system then a FM should not be a problem...

Just asking since I saw the alky in your sig. Nothing wrong with the front mount IMO. I use a CAS V2 and saw 129-131* with 29 psi, ambient temps in the upper 70s before alky. I like the sneeze too:tongue:

Yea, I am guessing using a front mount with the alky is superior...:biggrin:...just makes sense to me being as my car is 70% race and 30% street...lol
