Trashcans still rule!:D

Everytime you show these pictures of your badass Grand National with that wastebasket scoop, 87 NAT, it knocks me off my ass!! The whole car looks jet-like...the scoop looks like the intake of an F15. Your wastebasket idea here is, IMHO, one of the most original, creative ideas I've ever seen in a very long time. That thing just looks like it's ready for takeoff from the JFK Carrier!!! If I didn't have the KenneBell front intercooler, ram air assembly on my '87GN, I would do just as you did to yours...but of course give you all the credit, which you well deserve. I told my wife if I saw your car in my rearview mirror, I'd immediatey pull off the side of the road for fear of getting sucked into that badass intake of yours. Real, real nice job there, 87NAT. Wow. What more can I say? Oh, yeah, don't ever, EVER, tell DailyDrifter that a KenneBell Ram Air System looks cheezy!:D:D:D:p I want you to have a long lifespan.:D

LOL Bruce. I could beat someone to death with the airdam I have, and the one I'm doing for Ben. Cardboard wrapped in fiberglass is strong as hell.

Datant, you could get a trash can and easily cut it and glass over it if nessesary. Or dill holes and use rivits to hold it together. And personally I love the smell of resin, I cant tell you how many times my family would complain about the smell

If you guys check out Noah's marine and US composites you'll find epoxy instead of polyester resin. Much better for a long lasting fiber glass repair but it does cost about 2X what the stuff at wally world does. I sent the info to DD for him to check out. I've used them before on one of my projects and it works soooo much better. Doesn't harden as fast and has a longer work time as well as not stinking as bad.

Charlie, I did check the site out. I ended up getting most of my stuff from fibreglast.com. And I got epoxy resin from another place. I'm cheap by nature and I think I got a better price from the other places. I still need to get around to making some crap out of the CF, maybe i'll just start another BS thread in the Fab section for you Charlie

LOL!! And I love the smell of resin, too! But, and I've worked with fiberglass for a lot of projects, I forgot the resin to hardner ratio formula. Do you know it and would you let me know? I just plain stupid forgot!

Talk about smell? Get this...I wanted to paint the intake manifold of my '69 Vette orange like the res of the block. Since I couldn't work on it at my apartment, I took the Vette over to Mom and Dad's house. Took off the manifold, wire brushed it, cleaned it (or so I thought) prepped it, then painted it Chevrolet Orange. The I put it in Mom's oven and baked it for an hour. Sheesh! Dork Bruce USA! I forgot that under the manifold there is a rivited plate that channels the exhaust crossover to warm the Rochester. The otherside of the plate that I couldn't see was filled with years and years of baked on oil. The whole house was smoking like it was on fire, STUNK the high heaven, and set off all of the fire alarms! Just as I was airing out the whole house, Mom and Dad came home from somewheres. My Dad pitched a royal fit "stinking up his house, trying to set it on fire, he'll lose the home, his job, his dog, cat, car, furniture", etc. etc. just raising hell big time.:(I took the smoking manifold out of the oven, stinking oil burning smoke everywhere, and let it cool down, put it on the Vette, set up the carb, distributor and got the hell out of there. My set up a tent in the back yard to sleep for a week, the smell made him sick. Tell me about smell.

Bruce I'm not sure of the exact amount of hardened to resin, I just eye it up most of the time ;). But the new resin I have has a specific ratio for optimum performance, they have a little measuring cup with the increments on it. They basically have a formula for the weight of the resin then how may drops or mL you need to add. Hope this helps.
