My IATs were around 160-170 running 120-121 MPH in 75 degree weather with a Dutt neck stock IC.

Hopefully other with different ICs can post up some heat numbers so we can get some more perspective.

It is not the heat numbers I am worried about - alky can always bring those down. It is the flow I'd be concerned about. If your turbo is maxed out and you all of a sudden gain 4 psi of boost by changing intercoolers it sounds like a worth while mod to me.

For the record - I am running a dutt neck stock TTA myself but I plan to upgrade some day.

Joe, if you don't like that Jim Dunn intercooler I'd be more than happy to take it off your hands! You know you like it; was a lot of work but now you've go room to grow.

Biggest problem is air flow. Its not like a Buick with an open front end.. getting air through the core is the deal. And a car that sits low off the ground, nose is blocked off.. has everything working against it.

11 degree's per PSI is average. So 20 PSI is 220 degree's Plus Ambient=300 out of the turbo. From there you IC it.. you get X amount of reduction. This assummes you can get air through the core, and the pressure drop across the core influences the temp as well.

Here's a screen shot of my car running twin nozzles a little while back. The blue line is the temp, screen shot is top of the track.

You are right to a degree, but the extra back pressure through will create more heat too. At least that was how I always understood it.

Hopefully someone with a Jim Dunn IC can post up some numbers.

I thought about getting a Jim Dunn IC too. But I have already reached my goals with my car and I did not think the gain vs cost was worth the it. And taking the chance of racking it up on the street. Obviously the bigger ICs should be better. Just depends on how fast you want to go and what you want to spend. Sometime you can get it done with less. :p
