Trying to decide if I should go front mount or stay with a stock location. If I stay stock location I will with out a doubt get the PTE because it is the best. If I go front mount I will also probably get the PTE. Car is mostly street driven with some trips to track. But not driven a lot period. Right now temps stay at 160-180 and A/C is ice cold. If I get the front mount will I need an aluminium radiator? Will my A/C suffer? I like the front mount because it will clean up the engine bay and make getting to the front of the engine easier. But the slic is more stock looking which I also like. Also does the stock intercooler fan really do anything? Help me decide.

Just got home from work -Temps outside are 100+ today and my coolant temperature stayed in the 190-200 degree range. (This was with a couple wide open bursts - gotta keep that Alky system moving!)

I'm running the PTE front mount, F-body radiator and dual fans with the Caspers relay kit.

This is a 10 sec car with the A/C on Max cool. I have never ran an aftermarket SLIC, so I don't know how much cooler it would be, but I have no problems.

With a front mount you do have a little more room under the hood, plus they just look cool!

I think the biggest decision point is where you live, since you are in Michigan I would go with the front mount. The member who first answered is close to me in Maryland, in the DC area the summers here are wicked hot. I changed from a front mount to the Precision SLIC and the temps dropped 20 degrees, in traffic with the A/C blasting. The front mount was a real PITA in traffic, I had to turn off the A/C. May I just add the dual Spal fans are the best.

this has been beat to death a million times if ya do a search.. OR just buy whatever YOU want .. oh we run a stock location to keep a girl driven 9 sec car kind of a sleeper :p

Still running stock fan and radiator. Will I need to upgrade these too if I go front mount? If so and if the a/c will be affected I will be going PTE slic.

Is ground clearance an issue if you go with the PTE SLIC as opposed to the FM?

I had ground clearance issues with my pte slic, and went to a front mount. Haven't had any issues since

I had the PTE on my car and it worked very well. They're getting a bit tougher to find though. There's some really good units out there for our cars though. Do a search and you'll find a ton of info.

I live in a high mountain area with a lot of curbs and gutters ext... I loved my pte slic until i banged it against a dip once. Something i didn't consider when purchasing it.

Main thing I can think of is, why would you want your intercooler to get hot air comming through your engine radiator then going through your intercooler?

You want it stealthy,,,,paint it black.

look at all the pipes on front mounts that have dents in them .. obviously you have to show some care when using both . IF ya do a front mount save up for a better radiator and fan set up.
