What me forget about the past . I don't think so. My GN is past ,present and future.

I doubt this was a potential commercial. Seems more like a video for an internal GM meeting or possibly one including dealers. More like a rally the troups message than one for the public.

That was inspiring. I do wish GM the best of luck but unfortunately they don't seem to be 'taking the bull by the horns'.

They just sit still or try to follow the trends. As the video urges they need to set the trend and anticipate the next trend so they could act on it.

I think their biggest problem became their inability to innovate. I don't know if it was because of the bean counters or the general lack of genuine 'car people' in positions of power.

Sad state of affairs over their. I hope they can get 'right'.

+1 It's too long to be a real commercial but it is very cool.

It's pretty hard to compete when your workers are making close to $80 bucks an hour as compared to "just" $39 an hour for the (foreign) southern auto manufactures. Just ain't gonna happen..........:(

The unions are responsible for the downfall of the American car companies. Factor in politics and government epa restrictions, and it is a wonder that they have survived as long as they have.

That looks like an internal bit. One puzzles me is how they push the Opel in tha video and then turn around and dump the soltice and sky on us. The sky looks the closest but why they didnt keep the Speedsters look and everything is beyond me. Thats just another cool car GM has made and unsuccessfully dumped in the USA. The Lumina SS is another, thats a cool Lumina, not like the lame crap we got here.

Speaking of the UAW

This is VERY interesting .. it is a short video of a new Ford plant in Brazil.
.

One look at this and you will be able to tell why there will probably never be another assembly plant built in the USA. It will also point out why more assembly plants will go offshore.

After you watch this, you really need to take the time to write your Congressman and Senators urging them NOT to support the proposed bailout of the big three automakers. It will quite obviously be another large chunk of our (taxpayers) money going for a futile cause - because those companies are not ever going to be able to change enough to be successful until the UAW is willing to make some huge changes. And that seems unlikely.

Do not be scared into thinking that Ford, GM, and Chrysler are going to go under. They will survive, but their assembly operations in the US likely won't -- whether we provide a bailout or not.

And keep in mind that a hugh percentage of the cars sold in the USA are made in the USA today -- not just by Ford, GM, and Chrysler -- but by Toyota, Honda, and many of the rest. They are built by American workers and they are being profitable. Why, you must ask? Because they are non-union operations and do not have the UAW hanging around their necks like large ship anchors.

I was forced into a union at one of my first jobs. For all the benefits that union said I had I was able to get exactly none of them. I am against unions and instead of saying they stick up for the little guy, they stick up for seniority and use the little guy as an expendable resource to maintain their current style of living.
