I have stock original iron drums (under 6K miles) on my 87 GN. I had the drums sandblasted, and am about to start painting w/ POR15.
I was inspecting the drums, particularly where the flat steel plate or hub, is welded to the cast iron.
Having never paid much attention before, I notice there is not really a continuous weld bead or anything, and that there is a hairline gap most of the way around.
Is this normal ?? could the sandblasting have worn away whatever weld bead was supposed to be there??
Don't exactly want the hub to separate from the iron drum!
