Is a ball/spring boost controller needed with HD wategate?

Would spool time be improved with a manual boost controller for the stiffer spring HD wastegate? ....or is it a bigger benefit for stock wastegate assemblies?

I'm running ~19 to 20psi with almost no preload on the HD wastegate spring currently (barely have to tug on the rod to get it over the puck arm). I'd like more pre-load to ensure the puck is tightly seated against the turbo, but don't really want to push the boost any higher.

Does the boost controller bypass the stock solenoid completely?

Thanks,
William

Thanks for the link...

I had read that info, but was unclear if there would be much improvement for the HD wastegate actuator since the spring is much stronger than the stock part.

If it's only a marginal improvement, I'd like to spend that $50 elsewhere.

Thanks,
