I'm going to adjust my TV cable, and want to make sure I'm supposed to use the same procedure as outlined on gnttype.org for the later year cars. Obviously, when they refer to towads or away from firewall, I'll have to adjust that, as ours are 90 deg. rotated from the later years, but I wanted to make sure the basic procedure is the same. It seems everytime i think something is in common between my car and all the 86/87's out there, I find I'm wrong :) Thanks!

It is the same procedure. Just remember; The tighter the cable, the higher the shiftpoint.

Edit;
Be sure to verify the TB opening as too tight a TV cable setting may limit the TB from fully opening.

ive honestly never had the stock adjustment procedure work well for any of our GNs... i will do the stock procedure and and up pulling it back another 3-4 notches to get the shift points where i want them and as firm as i want them. Its really easy to burn the clutches and band up with the TV cable too loose.

How do you go back in a couple notches and keep it from coming back out at wot.

the ones ive messed with always fly too far forward when adjusting and still have plenty of clicks before it hampers the opening of the throttlebody....
