Is it common practice to replace these during a rebuild? Do they do more than just add support to the clutches?
Mine look ok without any burnt spots but is there something else to check?
Is it one of those things that are cheap enough to just replace?

Thanks

I usually replace them only if they're warped or burnt spots. Unless you got them in the kit already, then why not. You can mic them to make sure they're not worn. IMHO

I am referring to the backing plates which are the thicker ones. They normally do not come in a rebuild kit. Thanks
