Brake Backing Plates

Sorry if this is a stupid question. I’ve been searching for awhile, on google, this forum, and a few others. Is there a gasket that goes behind the backing plate? I was trying to do a simple brake job on my rears and it snowballed out of control. Now the rear end is out and the axels are pulled and I have new backing plates but it looks like gasket material on the old ones. Can’t find it listed on any parts stores websites. Just wanted to verify. Thanks!

No.

There is no gasket on the stock rear brake backing plates. The oil should be contained by the axle seals.

Awesome, thank you! I am replacing the seals and bearings too. I saw that other vehicles use backing plate gaskets so just wanted to double check. Greatly appreciated!
