Is it done right? 8.5 with Ford Ends

I'm looking at buying an 8.5 rear that is currently in an early 80's malibu. Supposedly it is a GN rear that has Ford ends, Moser spool & axles, aluminum drums and yoke.
I want to put this in my 87 TR.

Any pointers on what to look for to make sure I get the right stuff for my car?
Any typical problems on the welded ends I should notice?
I will need to change the gear from the current 4.11, anything else?
Is there only one type of 8.5 rear, or is it different in the GN?
I appreciate any advice on buying used parts.

if it was truly in a 78 and newer G body, then it is the proper housing and will bolt right in.
if not, it won't.
