I'm not sure that it is, but I had a helluva time getting it this far. It's still a little 'wobbly' so I'm thinking it might need one more 'click'. I don't want to get the trans up in there and find I have to take it back out:

I thinks so. I know the smaller convertors never look like they are all the way in. Measure from the bell housing to the convertor mounts and from the block to the flywheel. That will let you know for sure. And after you install, befor you bolt it up, the torque convertor should spin easy without rubbing.

when you install the converter you will know when it full seats. its a pain in the ass but once its in the right shot it slide in.

measure

Put a straight edge across the face of the trans and measure back to one of the 3 convertor holes--should be 7/8 in. --If 1/2 in. you have one more notch to go. Hard to tell by the pics but if you can stick your fingers behind the convertor eaisly it is not all the way up. Best of luck.

all 2004rs and gm rear wheelers will have a minimum of 1 " from the bellhousing outer edge to the converter mounting pads when properly seated.just place a straight edge across the bell and measure to the converter to flywheel mountin pads.and be sure to subtract the thickness of the straitedge obviously.

Thanks for the replies. It was indeed all the way in. The 3rd 'click' wasn't as obvious, but it had meshed with the splines.

Chris - the parts you sent did come the next day so that helped a lot. I should have the car back on the ground tonight.

I'm curious

Obviously I don't know how to measure--did you measure and if so what did you get?

Sorry - I didn't measure. I grew impatient and got a 2nd opinion from my brother. He took the converter out and put it back in. His opinion was that it was fully seated so we popped the trans into place. There's about 1/8, maybe slightly more, between the flywheel and the converter.
