This is a problem I have been having with the 700r4 in my van for nearly 2 months now, and Im about at wits end with it.

No one is giving me a straight answer. One shop told me the motor is on its way out and its blow by doing this. Another told me the fuel pump was on its way out. Yet another told me my tranny is shot. Now, all of the above have been ruled out by test I have done. Also, every darn ignition component has been replaced, and Im sure its not the cause.

The van almost constantly shudders. The motor seems to lug down at stoplights. When coming to stop, you can kinda hear something "clunk" as if its disengaging, even before you actually completely stop. When shifting gears, it starts to lug when it hits the next gear. If you let it coast, then get back on it, just a little, you can hear something "clunk" right about where the converter is. It vibrates like mad unless you basically are feathering the gas at highway speed. As soon as you accelerate or let off it will start shuddering again. Putting it into neutral does nothing to help it. I am also getting a tapping sound, that seems to come from the inspection cover around the converter every now and then.
It did this about 4 months ago, although not as bad. I actually had the tranny shop tow it in. They checked out the tranny and gave it a clean biil of health. They did flush and refill/ changed filter etc. though. Oddly enough, when I got it back it was fine for awhile.
Anyone got thoughts on this? Am I way off-base thinking it could be the converter? I came across "torque converter shudder" when reading about converters, and it sounds just like what the problem is. Thanks guys :)

I would persue exactly what you think. And no, you are not nuts...:D

Are you sure about that? :D
Maybe, just maybe then, I am the sane one, and everyone around me is the looney toon then... ;) Boy, wouldn't that explain a lot!!
Seriously though, thanks for the reply. Hope things are going good for PTS with your new help. Hang in there, man!
