I'm posting this under a friend's account.

Another friend of mine is really big into anything 4 wheel drive. So much so that he will try to make anything 4 wheel drive as long as he has a frame to put a body on. He has already put a 307 regal body on a 86 blazer frame for a friend, but now he has a 78 blazer frame with no body. He has found someone with a regal t-type body minus engine and trans and his plan is to put the t-type body on his blazer frame. I think this is a bad idea and a horrible waste of what could be a salvagable car. Even though its just the body I would have liked to see it restored instead of destroyed to be made into a mud truck.

Just seeing what the rest of you think.

I almost did when I was trying to tell him how much of a rare car this is. and his reply was "Its just a car" :o

I don't think he really understand what he wants to destroy.

Ditto, but make sure you have a roll of quarters in your fist so he really gets the idea!

i am of course playing, but i am just trying to get the point across that the turbo t's are indeed like you say a rare car, and shouldn't be used to be made into mudding trucks, he should find something else to use and let someone who understands how much of an amazing car a turbo t is have it so they car restore it so it can be appreicated, not turn it into something it was never meant to be.

thats like jacking up a syclone, or typhoon and makin it a mudding truck, just plain dumb

What I would really like to know is how much would I be looking at to get a good motor and trans for the car if I can manage to save it before it gets mutilated. If the body is in good enough shape I want to buy it before my friend has a chance to destroy it.

Brett you are a good man, hopefully someone can answer your question cuz that is positively what should be done.

It would be one thing if the car had terminal rot, but if it's intact that would be pure blasphemy. Tell your "buddy" if he can hold his water for another month or so I'll have what's left of an 87 GN that need to be re-framed and some floor work he can have FOR FREE!!!
