Is this the stock turbo???

Bought an 87 GN... Need to ID turbo to buy new chip.

Last owner didn't know too much about the mods. Seems like a stock turbo with the heat should removed because of a larger DP.

Car runs excessively rich and needs the old (I think a Red's chip) replaced with a Turbo Tweak.

Already ID'd the injectors by P/N. Just want to confirm the turbo before I place my order..

Most likely you have an issue other than the chip. A red's chip isn't going to make your car run bad, I had one in my car for a short time.

I agree. I am not even sure if it is a Red's chip. I'll attach a pic of my chip that looks very similar to one I saw of Red's when I did a search.

I don't want anyone to think I am bashing Red. I've read that a lot of the older chips were programmed to run rich. I know that was the case with my old GN with a KB street chip in it.

Trying to determine why the exhaust gives off a strong gas smell and all 6 plugs were black and smelled of gas also.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I would hate to just throw parts at the car without trying to eliminate ones that would have no effect on my problem.

FYI: I have Lucas 38# Injectors P/N # D3165AA
The fuel pressure is set to 43 PSI with vacuum line OFF.
BLM is 90 through all 4 cells.
INT is < 128.

If you have a boost guage, what does the vacuum read at idle? What is your blm at idle? Any exhaust leaks you can hear?

It has an A pillar boost gauge by VDO. It only reads PSI up to 30#.

The BLM's at idle are 90.

I didn't hear any exhaust leaks while it was running.

If its a Reds chip get rid of it. I have changed countless of thise things and they all were stupid rich at idle, tip in stumble, cold start stall, etc .

Turbo tweak, Caspers or Extender chip and be done

New to using a Scanmaster ... I know the decimal light was blinking during initial startup and for several minutes following. I believe that is Open loop. I think it went to closed loop after it completely warmed up (~160*). Will have to double check it today.
