Looking to pick up an El Camino for a daily driver, preferably a 1970 but will consider 71 and 72's also. If anyone has any leads on one in decent shape, please let me know. Also, if anyone has old newspapers, I think there was a 1970 396SS that was in the Advertiser around 3 or 4 months ago - please pass on the info if available. Thanks.:)

Hey nice to hear you are still around!!!
Sorry but I don't know anyone with a camino.
Hey the t-type you sold derek is a real stock runner
Doing consistent 12.80's since we changed the tranny!!!

Not quite a "Daily Driver"

I'm not the seller...I*think*it’s a ‘68SS black/red. From what I can tell, it may be too nice for a daily driver. Which makes it out of budget for a daily driver. It’s packing a 454 which makes it... It also has 4.10 gears...but if you care to look, give the guy a call at 423-0438.

Crap! Thought I take the liberty to find out more about the car and the number is no longer in service. stew

whoa crap, just thinking about the car is giving me a hard on :P
oooooooooooohuhuhuh 454!

More Streetable than I thought...

Here's some updated information off the top of my head... It's a '69 SS el Camino. Rebuilt 454 but states no re-bore. Cam is a GM spec 427/390 hp which is int. .462" exh. .482" and duration @ .050 int. 214 exh 218. TH-400 and 12 bolt with 3.31 gears. This is a very streetable combo being I run a similar sized cam in the 396. Asking $9800.00 Oh and the 6th digit in the phone number that appears to be smudged into a 3 is actually an 8, so the correct phone number is 423-0488. stew

Thanks for the info Stew. I ran a wanted ad in the Advertiser a couple of weeks ago and actually received a call from this person that you are mentioning here. I was kinda holding out for a 1970 but will keep the phone numbers I received on hand just in case.:)

Thanks for the heads up Chris, you will be limited to riding in the bed(figuratively speaking) of any truck I own - rules will be strictly enforced/no exceptions! :p

Hey KENNE-BILL!

I saw this particular car at one of the recent cruise nights at kapolei wendy's- very nice for a driver. IMHO, I hate the stripes on a '69, they look wierd, as they are not year correct. The car, is very nice and is listed here:

Hope this helps

the only guy I know with a 70 SS needs work, and it is his weekend driver.

Rob

Bill,

I could, but he has always wanted a '70 SS (the car is not numbers matching, so I cant understand the infatuation)so I dont think he would be willing to part with it at a reasonable price....

I can check though... BTW, anyone seen that super-clean 71-72, black w/white interior? now that one I would want...

Bill,

Call Stephen at Fujimoto's towing service.

585-9903

Tell him you are a friend of Robert Souza's. maybe he will relent and sell.

Called your friend Robert, it sounded like there was a slight chance he might sell it but not for the time being. I told him to let you know if he changes his mind, thanks for the tip.:)

Still looking for a daily driver. I've been considering other trucks also, one of which are a mid 80's - mid 90's Toyota 2 wheel drive or 4x4 w/stock suspension, either preferably w/ex.cab. Would appreciate any leads, thanks again.

Bill, got 2 in the buy & sell but I wouldn't look at the white one, by looking at picture, you can tell it has a rod knock.:D

El Camino/GN conversion FS

My co-worker saw a For Sale sign on it a couple days ago at the Waialae McDs. I wonder how much $$$ he's asking for.

Sounds interesting Chris.:D Would you know if the El Camino is parked there(McD's) regularly or did your co-worker just see it passing through?

Bill,

That would be Ryan Smith.... last phone number that I have for him is 732-0219 he lives on the corner of 7th and Maunaloa in Kaimuki (or used to, anyway) he also sells decals at the stadium swap meet (near the north tunnel)

He probably wants an arm and a leg for it.
