I had my tranny rebuilt in 2000 and I've got less than 3000 miles on it before this failure. The car pulls strong in 1st and 2nd but slips in 3rd and OD. I know that I have fried some clutches because the fluid color has changed to dark red. I just want to know what the possible problem could be. I don't know if I caused the failure or the builder.

That what I was Thinking. I talked to my builder and he made it sound as if I had caused the tranny to overheat. I am running an external cooler. The tranny was rebuilt using Level 10 kit. I am just trying to get this thing built so that I can at least make it through the season.

I dont know if the level 10 uses extra clutches in the direct or not, but if he used iron seal rings on the center support, it probably grooved the drum and wont seal the pressure properly. Thats why Bruce and others use hand fit teflon rings for that reason.

Also, bruce says that extra clutches in the direct are bad. "You will cook them, every time".

ck performance has the absolute fix for third clutch failure .by dual feeding the drum you triple clutch clamping force at the drum .also 4l80e solid teflon seal rings ,plugged third accumulator ball circuit and 9 alto red direct clutches ,or 7 blue plates in the hi drum .NO YOU WONT BURN THEM EVERYTIME IF THE DRUM IS DONE AS STATED HERE .extra clutches do not cause overheating .lets cut thru the myths .i believe vabeach called the shop today about this www.ckperformance.com
