I just recently noticed a pin hole leak grow into somewhat of a problem on my factory fuel tank, so clearly I am in the market for a new tank... I have noticed two options. Dorman, a little pricier, nice slate grey color. Or Spectra, I smudge cheaper, high shine finish. Basically, my question is who has used which one and in your opinion does one work or operate better than the other? I mean I know a gas tank is a gas tank (ours have baffles) but do either have an advantage or disadvantage? Thanks!

Dude, that sucks. I priced them before at Napa for like $279. I can't remember if the are stainless or not. But for that price would say steal. Are you gonna need any assistance? Let me know. You have my number.

P.s. How that turbo job working?

Clint

^^thats the one I have. Real nice and fits like OE. I paid $135ish shipped from someplace online....a1 auto or something like that....

I had a venting issue cause a crack in my tank of my Cutlass, got some tank repair epoxy from the local auto store and it never leaked again.

I bought the spectra, nice tank finish is good with the correct baffles but it doesn't want to take fuel very fast, just like the tank it replaced.

Thanks Clint, I will let you know when I order the gas tank if I'm gonna need help. I'm trying to hold off till I can get the money for the tank, fuel pump, and Hotwire kit. I will be ordering the DW pump from Nick Micale. I sorta make shifted a leak fix till then. Either way, I gotta make a trip down to meet you!

Clint, the turbo is working fantastic! Bison hooked me up with a awesome TA-49. I went to the thanksgiving Dyno day and found out I have blue top injectors, a mystery chip, stock fuel pump, and the stock waste gate actuator. So the new turbo with that setup made 263HP & 330TQ. I would chalk that up as pretty good for me.

That is awesome. I was gonna come up there on dyno day, but a cat+rattlesnack= $2000..... Have to keep my girl happy.

Might as well get new straps and rubber insulators too. Also check the rubber lines that connect the fuel pump hanger to the metal fuel lines. NOS4GN carries them precut in the correct dimensions.

Yep, I was planning on getting the whole new setup. Didn't know NOS4GN had the pre cut hoses. Thanks!

So far I have the Dorman fuel tank, and a new stainless racetronix G7 fuel sender unit, DW 300 pump is being ordered this week, new straps are on the way, all new rubbers, and a hotwire set up will be ordered shortly as well. I am wondering if there is anything special I need to do having the new G7 fuel sender, or is it just plug and play? Also, is there anything else I am missing?

The DW pump is not compatible with our sender. Please read our ad notes:

http://www.racetronix.biz/itemdesc.asp?ic=FPS-G7&eq=&Tp=

(2) The Tyco in-tank connector fits Walbro and many other aftermarket replacement pumps. Please check polarity markings before installation and make adjustments as required. This Tyco connector will not fit the factory-style pumps with Delphi Metri-Pack 150-series connectors. The maximum recommended electrical load is 20 amps continuous and 28 amps intermittent duty. This high current capacity allows this sender to be used with all factory and high-performance in-tank pumps currently available. It is highly recommended that a Racetronix FPWH-006 fuel pump wiring harness be used with this sender in order to properly support the power demands of a high-performance fuel pump. The sender mount is compatible with Walbro GSS340M, GSS294M, GSS242M, F20000169, F2000156M, Aeromotive 11140 and Racetronix RXP340M fuel pumps which have a 19mm or 22mm centered or offset inlet when used with the proper pump mounting grommet and press-on filter sock. Recommended pumps and pump kits are listed to the right of this web ad under the add-on section. The sender mount IS NOT compatible with Walbro GSS341, GSS342, GSS294, GSS307, GSS340, GSS315, GSS317, GSS250, GSS278 F2000156, Siemens SM320B, Deatschwerks DW300, Aeromotive 11141, 11142, Racetronix RXP341, RXP342 and other fuel pumps using an offset 11mm inlet. Pumps flowing more than 255LPH may exhibit problems with fuel pressure regulation/rise due to restrictions in the factory return lines and sender. If you require more fuel volume please consider a fuel sender / combo such as our FPS-G7AN listed under related items to the right of this web ad.

If you require more fuel volume than a Walbro 255LPH pump can provide please consider our FPS-G7AN along with our new RXP340M pump or our FPS-G7W416EAN

Make sure you ask Nick about properly grounding the fuel pump. It will be much easier when you are doing all of this right now.

Yes, make sure your properly ground EVERYTHING in your car by going through the factory grounds and adding a battery to body ground upgrade.

DW Pump, Tank, G7 Hanger and Hotwire kit were installed last weekend and work better than I had hoped. Thanks for the help!
