Currently I am running your chip that you made for me several months ago. It is a 23* street chip for alchy. I have some questions.
1.) What fuel pressure do you recommend I set it at? I plan to tune for 20-21 lbs. of boost 1st and 2nd and maybe 19-20 in 3rd.
2.)Everytime I get on boost at partial to half throttle it starts to knock at around 5 lbs. Is it normal to have knock at partial throttle with a higher timing chip?
3.)What is the sweet spot timing of the TE-51?
4.)When i get on boost at partial throttle in 4th gear(converter locked up) it knocks right away. Is that normal?
5.)What boost do you recommend I start turning on the alchy with this chip?
6.)Is this chip 23* in all gears or do you back off the timing in 3rd and 4th?
7.)What is the max boost I can run with your chip?

oh and another thing, is it normal for the fan to run right after shutting off the engine? after driving it i shut it off and the fan ran for several minutes. an hour later i came back and started the car for a second and turned it off right away and the fan stayed on for 5 or so minutes. Is the chip programmed to do that?

another question popped up. When i'm at a stop light the car goes in open loop according to the scanmaster. Is that normal with your chip?

1 - 42 PSI

2 - It depends on the quality of gasoline where you live. Its not out of the realm of possibilities but since I have guys running that much timing with alcohol, I would say in most cases no.

3 - Depends on your combination. Best to talk to whoever sold you the turbo for that one.

4 - There is extra load on the engine so thats a probable place for it to know but with proper tuning it shouldnt be an issue.

5 - Depends on your car. I would start low. 16 PSI or so and work up.

6 - The timing is only manipulated by gears in my race chips.

7 - Depends on your car. Every car is different.

8 - The chip has no control over that.

9 - No

with my other street chip, the car doesn't go in open loop(dot blinking on the scanmaster) when at a stop.

It shouldnt be doing that. I would try doing some tuning on the car and see if it continues to do it.

I really dont know what else to tell you at this point. If you think there is something wrong with the chip then send me an email and Ill give you my address and you can send it back. It sounds to me like you have a lean issue but Ill take a look at the chip if you want.

turboaddict,
My SM2 is erratic at idle when I push the brake pedal. I don't know why. When I'm in Park and don't push the brake pedal it provides a good output. Otherwise my SM2 works as it should. Maybe your SM2 reacts like mine? :)

I checked that blinking light today while stopped. Weird that is working fine now and is a steady solid light.

Funny thing is while the SM2 was displaying an open loop mode, i would give it a little gas while braked and the SM2 will show a closed loop mode.

Jay I sent you several emails and was wondering if you received them. My email address is turbojon1026@excite.com

John, if you want to send the chip back, send me an email. At this point that's about all I can do is get it back and look at it. If I see anything out of the ordinary, Ill change it but telling me it doesnt work, it works and it doesnt work again doesnt do much to solve the problem.

Hey Jay I don't think there is anything wrong with the chip. Got another question about your chips. Are the timing tables progressive then tapered off at a higher rpm @ WOT?
