No they aren't moving. The joints need to be heated. I just callapsed one for myself by heating it, it wasn't that hard.

I am not a pro at the process.....but, I just went outside and got 2 to compress. But u still need a hammer and make them move. Maybe I didn't heat them enough, but they do collapse. I just picked a 10 torch kit from home depot
