Julio, Can I use 87 or 89 octane w/ alky and no detonation ?

Julio, You've seen my car a few times....Its basically stock except for your progressive kit, LT1 meter, 009's, 255 pump, 3" DP, power plate, hooker exhaust.
Can I use 87 or 89 octane fuel without any performance problems or should I just keep using 93 octane ?

Anyone else have any input on this ?

sell all your trophys and buy super unleaded :biggrin: ..im sure he is gona say every car is different and if you want to try it,start with lower boost and work your way till you see knock...maybe you wont see any...see ya best of show...i mean frank..lol..

ALOT, depends on you level of tuning expertise.

Are you running a Scanmaster. or some *instant* knock indicator?.
Have you spent time using a Direct Scan, and pretty well *know* what you engine likes?.

The safe *default* answer is stick with the 93, till you can/have done the above.

yes, i have a knock detector and a scanmaster......

By no means am I an expert here but I'll throw this out.

At $0.20 a gallon differece between low and premium grade..... a 15 gallon fill up is only a $3.00 difference. Just run the 93 and optimize your system for it.

I have a friend that says he runs 87 oct and 20 lbs of boost with his Akly kit from razor
This is on an 85 GN with no IC!!!!
Although I have never seen him fill his car (Never smells like race gas) I can say it does run well for an 85
