Hey everyone just a note on the 6776 Ball bearing precision turbo , unfortunatly the turbo destroyed it self somehow but that isnt the point of this story ...a buddy loaned me a Turbonetics ball bearing 70 and after test running the car and trying to set the boost at the 30 psi i normaly ran with the 6776 bb the car was picking up knock ( Never any with 6776 ) and felt dogged ......the 6776 would get the car so bent out of shape on the street guys were scarred to ride with me ....the car would be all over to keep it in my lane was a chore ....car recently made 535 hp at the wheels and 710 ft lbs of torque on a Mustang dynometer ...........if you are contenplating these Turbos or the newer ones out now i think you will be highly impressed with them in comparison to older units youve run .......

Turbo failing on street run against my buddies 10.00 car ....left at zero boost tried that before this race @10 Psi and it was a traction limmited ice driving 200 foot blacktracking run.turbo only made 26 psi i normaly ran 30 guess that was a sign car and turbo had alot of hard street runs and driving on it ...the car stayed in its lane though:p

Damn.. whatever you were racing blew your doors off.

What turbos are you talking about the PTE or Turbonetics?

If you were picking up knock with 30 psi you might as well pull the engine too because its hurt if you really had detonation. Ill let you know how the t-netics 70 S works out on my car. Looking for 9.80's at 25-26psi. Probably a half second faster than the car would go running a dinosaur with a 76 trim exhaust.

Thanks Jay i know my buddy ass whipped me if you watch the video youll see the boost die 3/4 track and go to only 26 psi , really cut the race short, in the past the car stormed on the top end and ran down the other car/s but my buddies TA is a strong contender running 13.50 inch slicks to my 275 60 15 MT street radials like i told him it was an honor to lose to him ......... i normaly ran 30 psi with out knock with the 6776 and c 16............i was comparing the 6776 PTE to the 70 Turbonetics the 6776 hands down better IMO

Never had a 70 T, but a friend of mine do, and he says my car(6776) way out performs his car.

so the DBB is really that much stronger than a 3mm larger wheel?

I've really contemplated a 6262DBB over a TE45A...it seems that these DBB really do outperform the larger journal bearing turbos.

side note: Can you get a 45A converted to DBB?

To clerify what im saying is the double Ball bearing PTE turbos are Awsome and you wont be disapointed ..........Vacume the Turbo was Destroyed and the same day i put my buddies Turbonetics 70 BB with turbo on the car and it felt alot weaker from what i was used to with the 6776 PTE..ive run a number of turbos in the past .......TA49 , TE60 , Turbonetics stage 5 , another Turbonetics i dont remember , a CPT 65 Turbonetics Ball bearing , a 70GTQ ........... and the 6776 spools like you have no idea even if youve had a TURBONETICS BALL BEARING and Stormed on the Top end like the 70 GTQ which was a dog with the journel bearing out the gate ....unless you want a higher stall mine was 3500 ........For the street the PTE ball bearing turbos are AWSOME car runs stong on the top and spools crazy fast for the traffic type light to stop sign driving ................:D

Did you determine what caused the damage to the turbo, ie oiling issue, debris intack, etc?

I don’t doubt there's a "feel" difference between the turbos. I don't know about you but my butt dyno is off.

Did not determine failure may have just been run very hard for too long ............Vacume belive what you like.... i see you have a CPT66..... if you want to belive thats the best your free to feel that way i know my car well and with the 6776 it was an animal trapping @ 135 with the same stuff your running im just speaking from my experiance with this turbo

My butt dyno sucks too. The CPT 66S has been mid 130's on a few iron headed cars on here. 133.4mph 28.5psi on stock bottom end. 3600lbs. Wish i had it on the strip with the 33psi tune. The 6776 is a proven performer. Ill have a good comparison soon. Reed0380's 3800+lb car trapped nearly 128mph with the 6776@26-27psi on a lean tune. Looking for 130+ with the 66 S he just aquired.

Just a reference point the turbonetics turbo my buddy loaned me went into the 130+s on my buddies car so it makes power .........Im not debating that i just like the feel and power curve of the PTE ball bearing ive used at least

i was comparing the 6776 PTE to the 70 Turbonetics the 6776 hands down better IMO

The T netics-PTE stuff had been hashed out on here plenty.
The PTE stuff puts the T-Netics stuff to shame.

There are a select few that have put down some good times with the T-netics stuff though but they usually show gain and better spoolup dropping size into a PTE

I LOVE my turbo. Its insta spool at 20 mph or 65 mph. I cant even contemplate giving it a decent amount of gas without having an extra lane on either side of me. Even my wife cant make me smile like that...
