Why does the resovoir for the power steering have reversed threads? I found this interesting Any answers?

How about another question, why do some NOT have reverse threads on the cap?:D

I found out that 1969 Chargers have reversed threads on the drivers side wheel lug nuts after I snapped off all five of them once...

In '87, with the increase in power over the '86 models, the engineers had to come up with a solution since the increased torque over in '87 of the engine was loosening the cap over time......:D

Ok, kidding aside, it was a redesign from '86 to '87 for unknown reasons. '86's tightened to the right, '87's tightened to the left. The wording on the caps is a little different too. A description is in Kirban's catalog outlining the whole thing.

Hmmm, is this like the old earring rule: left is right, and right is wrong? Hehe.....Surely not.

I thought there was a recall on the 87 resovoir and the replacements had reverse threads so you could tell immediately that you have had the recall done..

Not exactally, one of my '87 T's delivered in Dec. 1986 is reverse threads, tightens right. Guess they were using up left-overs?

Oops, it also said early '87 production cars could have the righty-tighty cap. I swear, this is as bad as work! Picky, picky. :p

ONLY recall on 1987 turbo cars was/is the Powermaster switch.

May have been a TSB.
