Just bought my Regal.

Just bought my regal a week or so ago. I joined the forum shortly after but haven't had time to post my info or my car yet. It's an 86 Regal Limited. I plan on making it a GN clone although my friends want me to keep the 305, Bore it out and do a cam swap. What do you guys think?

Dont do anything to the 305....you will not notice the difference. In fact, it may go slower.

305 stands for the $3.05 it's worth. Biggest piece of shit GM ever put under a hood.
I love listening to the TPI Camaro guys at cruise ins. If they only had a clue.
Buy a stock set up with tranny and harness and ECM from TTAOWNER in Conn and swap it out. Get it running...drive it for a bit...then after its got all the bugs worked out. Decide if you want to mod it. Total swap for all stock parts should be in the $4500 range...give or take.

Ya i agree with you dr. boost and coach. I have never been a fan of the 305. My friend loves it for some reason so I think I'm gonna sell it to him once I pull it out.
I had exactly those plans Coach except I hadn't looked around to see who I was going to buy everything from. At the moment I am working on getting off all the chrome and stuff I don't like while I save up for the engine/tranny etc.

I took off the header panel and front bumper today. I'll take pics when the sun comes back up.

So before I start posting in the wrong sections. Where should i post to get advice on making my limited a GN clone? the hybrid section? For example one of my questions is. My regal has a Ignition control module where the ECU/ECM usually is for the GN. It's not the same is it? I can't just put a chip in the one I have when I do my swap?.

I would say post in the Tech section. It's not going to really be a hybrid. Your putting in a combo that coulda been ordered from Buick.

No. You need what they call a "Vin7" ECM. If you contact TTAOWNER he can help you out with a list of what you need.

Wow... Dallas. TTAOWNER is in Conn but has every single thing you need to swap it over. Every nut, bolt, and washer.

like already said that 305 is a good DD nothing else .
its a real easy swap take your time.

Here are some better photos. If it looks jacked up that's because there are still spacers in the springs. Soon I will just cut the springs out entirely and replace with pretty much all new suspension. Shocks, springs, A-Arms the works.
Anyway, hope these at least give u a better look at it. Only paid $800 for it btw and I drove it home.
